If Hurricane and SPitfire production had been seriously hurt, this WAS being considered ... cheap to build

More and More I'm getting convinced that Mr. Miles deserves more recognition than he's received so far.

about four hours total ... I'm not going for 100% detail accuracy, but more for the "feel"
It's FSDS, of course, though some bits and pieces may get ported to gWax and back for, ahem, "detail work"
From a mesh modelling point of view, it's a bit "crude" (even by my relaxed standards)
From the two protoypes made, it appeared to be better than the Hurricane I, and quite comparable to the Spit I/II of the time. Armament was 8x.303, so conceivably it could have taken cannon armament as a development.
The FAA tested it, comparing it better than the Martlett.
Even today, it seems like a good design for a homebuilt..

Hey Felix,
Looks great... Is that a Miles M.20?

Specifically, I'm basing it on Prototype No.2, with the "revised" landing gear. Since I don't have much detailed information (yet), I'm taking certain liberties with the model. I added external exhaust pipes (look neat) before realizing that the photos really show a small exhaust at each side.
It's hard to imagine that this little job packed 8 (or 12) guns, and even with fixed gear, it had performance that put it right up there with the Hurricane.

They should have given it retractable gear 8)
Not sure if you've seen this, but some info on the M.20 8)

Would it surprise you to learn that the three view I'm using looks EXACTLY like the 3-view on that site?

Are you going to add a VC?

Wow,
That's a very clean simple design. Personally I think looking at the 3-way views this would make an excellent first timer project. Does the tail wheel swivel or is it fixed?

Most probably a rudimentary VC, nothing too fancy. I'm not much of a panel maker.
Just got my set of plans from Bob Banka on the M.20 ... suffice it to say it's an information overload - on both prototypes, and subtle variations on each...
I think the naval "version" (No.2) was the better looking of the two.

Have you been able to find any reference for the cockpit?

In a book on Miles aircraft.
http://www.miles-aircraft.com/Publications_miles_aircraft.html
I've been interested in Miles aircraft designs for as long as I can remember. The company has a long connection with my local airport at Shoreham although it was based at Woodley when the M.20 was built. I know a lot of people who worked for the company.
PS. A reunion for all ex- Miles & Beagle Aircraft employees is scheduled at Shoreham later this year. All being well I shall be there with my camera.
