Depending what version of FS you are running, I am using Airport for Windows 2.60 to modify land areas (e.g., remove default scenery, flatten land - for use in FS2002) and FSDS V2 to create buildings and other objects.  Am sure there are many other options out there but these two options work well, and can help create some pretty amazing stuff.

Im trying to do the same thing, except not only a fake field of my own, but updates to a existing field. I used AFCAD by Lee Swordy to load an existing airport & make changes--like gates, & assign runways, assign frequencys for ATC etc. It works fine!  I was going to use Airport for Windows to add buildings & such. I was told, by reading the forums, it was the best thing since sliced bread so I downloaded v2.60 & then the v3.0 update. Looks Powerfull, but  unfortunately the help is slim pickens & the tutorial is something I cant seem to find. It touts one but the link is dead & the support sites are all broken??? This I dont understand?  If I could find the tutorials for Airports (v2.60 or v3.0) Im sure it would do what we both want. Seems to do what we want is something that will require using a few programs. Let me know what you uncover & I will also let you know if I can find more info on Airports or if not, something else for the Airport Building.

I am in the process of putting together a list & description of each of the different freeware tools available for FS9 scenery creation to help with this sort of thing:
http://www.ukscenerydesign.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3

Please try reading it! If it doesn't help please say so & i'll have a go at improving it Wink

Thanks for the link and the effort you've put into it to-date. Seached for 'flatten' and came up nada . . .

I've tried FSTflatten but was hoping there was something better (easier) to use.

Hmmmm....!

I haven't actually had to use a flatten in FS9 yet! - 'fraid I don't know Wink What is this flatten for? I assume its for a new airport which needs a flat area with the ability to lay an AFCAD2 on top. You'll probably need to create a LWM/VTP style polygon or something similar - if you can give me a few days I'll get back to you!

Wji - I've just had a very quick go with Ground2K4 & i've managed to flatten half the hill extremely easily Cheesy You need to create an LWM land polygon with G2K4.

If you manage to set up G2K4 & lay a polygon you need to  choose the following -
"Poly without shore  - >  LWM -> (tab to LWM) -> "Land" + "Altitude xxx"

You can get G2K4 from the list. If you need help setting up G2K4 I wont be around for a week so you'll either have to find someone else or wait till next wednesday! It is very easy to set up G2K4 but some people have a problem - I just don't quite have the time today!

Hope this helps!
Birdy.
