   I have been looking to see if this has been posted before, so sorry if I missed it else where. (or if I should've posted this at GMAX.
My problem is when I start up GMAX it says-

   Class <FSModelExp> from <FSModelExp.dle> has duplicate class ID: not loading. This may be due to a duplicate plug-in path

It does this twice, I do have the export options in GMAX but it says export failed when I try it out. Thought the problem sounded simple to fix at first, But no dice, thanks for ya help  Smiley

It sounds like you have FSModelExp.dle in ..\gmax\plugin and ..\gmax\gamepack\fs2004\plugin

Is this the case? Remove the FSModelExp.dle from ..\gmax\plugin and use the shortcut in the ..\gmax\gamepack\fs2004 path to lunch Gmax.

If this doesn’t get you going, post back with information on where you got the plugin.

That did it! Smiley It did say something about config files will not be read, but it made a MDL file. Can I use FS 2002 to test MDL from the 2004 SDK/GMAX plug-in? Thanks again  FSEDGE Smiley

Qualified yes.

#1 - DO NOT include any FS9 specific XML animated parts.

#2 - Better - create a new GAMEPACK:FS2002 - basically, copy everything in your FS2004 gamepack folder structure to a new gamepack\FS2002  EXCEPT the makemdl.parts.xml file. and create a new FS2002 link.

(In other words, follow the FS2004's instructions on creating a new FS2002 gamepack file structure.)

Dare I assume you did the P38 tutorial?

<G>

FYI - that tutorial is nice, except for the little detail that the images are set 180 off.

What they show as "left" is really the "right" side image.

The "limits" are variable - depending on the user's setups.

I'm of the minimalist faction ... "why create a 4000 poly control stick button when I can fool you with a clever texture"

Of course, some detail is necessary, but from spot view, can you tell the difference between a 128-sided fuselage and a 24-sided nicely textured cylinder?

One of the biggest dangers in gmax is doing things just because you can.
