no. it's exactly like playing offline. only problem is that some of the game company's servers suck (*cough* EA *cough*) and you get kicked off occasionaly. still great fun tho. i used to play burnout3 quite alot online and beat whoever got in my way Wink Grin. seriously, alot of the people online can't play the game for sh*t Tongue

Not quite sure. But my guess would be something the guys in marketing came up with.
Might have one or two new features, but mostly like the same PS2.
Electronics just aren't cool unless they're small.

Meh, I won't be getting one.
And the PS2 HDD apparently can't connect to them.

if you dont need a new PS2 and cant afford one dont waste your time. There is nothing special enough about them to warrent the cost when it isn't needed.

My old PS2 just died and I had to get a new slimline.  Overall, it's pretty nice.  The starting load-up screen is a bit faster than the old ones.  Also, it is really nice to have a network adapter built right into the playstation itself.  You won't have to worry about the PS2 HDD anymore either unless you play FFXI because no future games will be using it.  It's small size makes it easier to put places too.  I don't really see any downsides to getting it over a big one if you plan on buying a new PS2, but if you already have a PS2 and want to upgrade, I wouldn't recommend doing so, no point.  Also, PS2 online is free for pretty much every game (except FFXI).

Am I being thick here?

Is it just me or is somthing wrong in the license tests?

On some you are supposed to follow the pace car and try and do the track within the set times.  If you follow the pace car and keep up his rear to the end you will get bronze, if you want silver or gold your in trouble.  Everytime I pass the pace car I get a fail yet he does not drive fast enough for you to get silver or gold Sad.

An example being the AI Test 15. Nurenburgh ring (Spelt wrong I think).  Test is 10mins for bronze yet having to break to avoid hitting pace car (Which would fail me) means that I cross the finish line 10mins and 16sec (A fail) yet I'm a cars length behind pace car!!

Is there some setting I should have done first?

Apart from that, excellent graphics fast game play but yes, no crash detection and AI is .....ok but could be a lot better, I just love the graphics.

Man, the PS2 HDD was such a joke, like the Sony guys just couldn't for the life of them figure out how to utilize it, uhh...how about being able to save games on it? Oh no, couldn't do that, then people would stop spending $20+ a pop for those stupid little memory cards. That has got to be my favorite thing about the Xbox, HDD built right in from the get-go, I've saved tons of games on there and haven't even scratched the surface of the available space, plus I have downloaded updates for many games, Microsoft in my opinion really did a better job in console design than Sony.

As far as all of the mentions here of PS2's dying, everyone I know, including myself has had a PS2 fail on them at least once, I am on my third one, I know my brother is on his second or third, when you see the numbers regarding how many PS2 units have been sold since it's release, they fail to mention that a lot of gamers have had to buy 2-3 systems because of the dreaded read errors that were so common in the first couple of years, I believe the newer units are more reliable.

And then there's the guy here who couldn't run GT4 unless he bought a newer system, what kind of crap is that? It shouldn't matter when you bought the PS2, it should be able to play PS2 games no matter what until the next gen consoles come out, considering the mass failures of early PS2's I guess it is just assumed that everyone has replaced their systems with a newer one at least once, if you have an early PS2 that even still works I congratulate you, there is no excuse for making games incompatible with the system it is designed for.

What if GT4 was only compatible with the new slim PS2 design and we all had to buy a new system to play it, then Sony would be bragging about their PS2 sales being up, personally I have always suspected Sony of intentionally building the PS2 to fail for that reason exactly, I just know and have heard of too many people who have had PS2's fail to believe it was just coincidence.
