...marshalling an aircraft.   Grin 8)

I know it looks like I'm showing off my best impression of the aircraft approaching me, but I'm actually telling him to turn to my right (his left) by pointing with my right arm and waving my left arm.
...

...

Give 'im the wheels chocked signal and get a thumbs up in return...oh yess...too cool.   8)
...

The other best part of my job is pushing the plane back from the gate.   8)  I placed my camera on the pushback tug and video taped one of my pushes...hehe.  The darn thing is 55 megs so until I find a way to shrink it or cut it down to a smaller size, I can't post it.  haha.   Tongue

Yeah three of us brought our cameras that day and had some fun with them out there on the ramp.  It was beautiful day sporting some perfect light for pictures.

You wont think it's that fun you when you have to do it in a cold snowy morning at 6am!
My ear muffs actually froze to my skin

The weather looks really good there, makes me jealous  Sad

Really miss the airport life, will probably re-apply for ramp agent job this fall since they need people with experience as the airport expands its traffic.

Because you have an awesome job.  Smiley

Haha well Southwest has many sponsored tugs throughout the system, many of them sports affiliated.  The Sharks are San Jose biggest claim to fame so why not?  Plus, the HP Pavilion/San Jose Arena/Shark Tank/whatever you wanna call it is just down the street from the airport.   Grin

We just got another pushback from Sacramento painted like California One.  I'm waiting for the day when California One comes in and pulls into a gate using that pushback.  That would be a great picture.   8)

Thanks Nexus.

Yeah well I don't really have to worry about snow  hehehe.  I mean all we cry about is a day of rain.  Although this past week and a half/two weeks has been very wet...not as fun out there that's for sure.  Especially last weekend...because of President's Day, loads were similar to Thanksgiving.  That's a lot of travellers.  Heavy days aren't too bad, but when the weather is miserable and rainy, it makes the job a whole lot harder to handle...not to mention...the senior agents like to call in sick on those days and the young pup out there (ME!) who is still on probation and at the bottom of the seniority list has to cover for them.  So when it's heavy, raining and just no fun, I get to experience it the most.  Lot of madatory over-time...heh...

Well, lets see.  If you work a gate shift, you are assigned to one gate with another agent.  Typically one gate will get 5-6 flights during one shift.  The two agents rotate the jobs (gate lead or gate assist also known as the buffer) and its the gate leads  job to marshall the aircraft to the gate.  So as I think out loud here, I guess that would be about 3 times during a typic shift when working gates.  Although, there are times when others arent at their gate when they should be and the plane will pull in waiting for someone to bring it in.  When that happens it's the closest guy that sees whats going on.  Happened to me 3 times tonight haha.  I don't mind...like I said, it's one of the best parts of my job.   8)
