I am currently building a Twin Engine vintage aircraft for FS9 and (hopefully) CFS3 in G-Max.  I have noticed that many models are advertised as "low poly count".  How many polygons is this.  For example one wing of the model is currently 309 polygons.  Is this excessive?

I don't think anyone has nailed down the poly count for FS to be honest.  To me low poly would be in the range of 12000 to 30000. Higher end models would be upwards of 50000 plus.

If the wing is complete with ailerons, flaps, spoilers etc. I would think 309 polys are considered normal to slightly on the high side. But that's just my opinion. I am sure others feel different about this.

Thanks for your reply.  I have done some conservative collapsing work and reduced the count to 225.  This does not include the elevators or engines.

30,000 gives me a fair few to work with... Grin

I try to aim for no more than 50000 before doubling up for the VC version.  Lately I have been getting away with extremely high poly counts of over 90000 or so!

Framerate-friendly too.  Smiley

I DO need to reboot before attempting to compile though.
