From the amount of time they spend with you online sorting things €60 sounds reasonable to me, and I may pay them a visit soon...
I think the best thing to do would be to ask Dave (Fly2e) - I think's he's used the service...
Charlie
(or ask Michael (Ramsa329) himself - I believe he is FS-GS)

Hey Sky, I have come to be very good riends with Michael over the past few years. I will post this as per his post:
Quote:
You want to know more specifics about what we do so here goes.
1) We conduct a preliminary review of the client’s machine through Yahoo or MSN messenger voice chat. At the end of this review we will recommend that changes be made based upon our knowledge and experience. Some of the changes are mandatory some are up to the client.
2) The client will be asked to update their BIOS and chipset drivers and set BIOS as per our recommendation and according to their hardware.
3) We will request memory upgrades if necessary and will explain to the client the different levels of memory and if it is applicable to their system. If necessary we will explain the installation of the memory since there are varying slot configurations for different MoBos
4) If need be we walk the client through the BIOS update for his/her specific machine or direct the client to a site where they can obtain instructions specific to their machine.
5) We will than recommend the removal or installation of programs that we have tested on a wide range of machines (there are 6 machines for testing) which impact the performance of the machine or conflict with windows. Our recommendations include both freeware or payware so that there will be no additional costs unless the client wants to purchase ( I will not be more specific than this since this is a public forum and I have no desire to deal publicly with any company)
6) Once the client has finished the preliminary required steps we will set a time for the session according to their work schedule.
7) Once in the session we will reset the manner in which windows uses the page file and help the client understand the settings.
8 ) Once we are happy that the client’s machine is stable and free of any unwanted viruses spyware etc. We do a cleaning of the client’s computer and do maintenance. At which time we also try to show the client how to maintain their machine for the future.
9) We will than proceed to set-up the client’s video card and monitor according to testing done on our machines with a wide variety of video cards monitors and drivers. If necessary we will walk the client through a driver reinstall to insure that they have an absolutely clean installation of drivers.
10) Once we are satisfied that the video/monitor is stable and functioning correctly we set the client up to access their .cfg file and their main flightsim folder. We than make sure that the client has installed the patch from MS and help them understand how best to do the process. We follow this process closely to insure that there are no errors.
11) We than set clouds into the sim (after making back-ups) in accordance with the client’s machine’s specs and using freeware available on the net. Which cloud types we used are tested thoroughly and the client is given a complete explanation of their choices and the impact.
12) Once the client has loaded the necessary files and whatever additional files (only if necessary) they need (we load the sim in a specific fashion in order to avoid scenery.cfg errors) and we have made back-ups of any folder in which changes were made we blow out the client’s current .cfg file (after making a backup).
13) We than do some registry tweaks walking the client through each step so that they understand not only how but why
14) We than proceed to set-up a new hardware profile on the machine in preparation for creating a new virtual machine
15) We direct the client on how to turn off services in their new profile (we do not use Black Viper’s site which is outstanding but to general for each client’s specific needs)

16) Once the profile has been established we reboot to it and proceed to further turn off any unnecessary Windows graphics.
17) We than start and set-up the client’s sim for testing purposes.
18 ) We than reconfigure the client’s fs9.cfg file using tested configs according to their video card and machine.
19) We teach the client about each setting within the .cfg so that they can adjust their .cfgs to reflect their scenery and add-ons in the sim.
20) We than proceed to turn off any additional programs or services that are unnecessary which gives us a chance to see if there are any unwanted programs ( Trojans worms spyware etc…..)
21) We now start the sim and do a test flight to check FPS which reveal any hardware problems or IRQ conflicts or a host of other problems the client may be having.
22) If the frame rates do not reach my expectations for the set-up this will indicate a problem which we will need to investigate. As I said these problems vary a great deal and in some cases are difficult to discover. Some examples are hardware IRQ conflicts (caused by many add-on pedals etc… I will not mention company names), service pack issues, power supply problems and heat chattering.
23) To give an example of this two of my clients recently had a serious problem with frame rates on extremely high end machines which was solved by the addition of service pack 2 (the frame rate jump was over 4xs the amount) I should mention here that I use frame rates only to check installations and read them as you would a book. This was an interesting discovery and will be brought to Microsoft’s attention.
24) Once we are satisfied that the FPS are within the parameters that I need I will add clouds to the test and AI traffic. During this process I constantly readjust target frame rates according to a system I have developed.
25) Finally we reboot the machine and test with the client’s favorite plane at their favorite airport so that they will see the end result.
26) Finally the client will run their machine for 48 hrs testing and retesting after which they will contact me for any final adjustments
27) At this time if my client’s are satisfied they pay me.
2 My clients continue to receive support for no additional costs including any testing that we do with new products unless they make a hardware change necessitating a reset-up or follow some ill-advised information which changes our work in which case they will repay me to reset.
This than is the process it generally takes between 4-5 hrs dependent upon the nature of the problems that the client has but as I have said before the essence is in the fact that this service is tailored to each machine.
