well, after nearly a year ive finally finished the engine for my beloved peugeot 205 gti! its an mi16 1.9 from a 405. for those who dont know, this engine makes 160 bhp in standard tune, but mine should be making nearer 210 bhp.....
the list is nearly endless as to what ive done to it, but basically its been blue printed, bigger valves, lightened crank + flywheel, head ported + polished, and finally the piece de' resistence- supercharged! all i gotta do now is fit it, should be done by friday, my only concern then will be keeping my liscence!
now some of you might think 210 bhp isnt really a lot, but think about this...
the whole car only weighs about 800 kilos, so 210 bhp = 262 bhp per ton! nearly as much as a porsche 911 carrera, more than a bmw m3, and exactly the same as a ferrari 456! 0-60 mph will be roughly 5-6 seconds, but im gonna need some sticky tyres!
sorry, im just sooo excited by this i needed to tell someone!

i'll give it a try mate....
seriously though, the mi16 engine im putting in is exactly the same as the the stock 8v motor, its just got more valves and a few other internal changes.
my bro is the man for radical stuff, he's managed to build a 'esprezza', as we like to call it..... running gear and engine from an impreza turbo coupled to a ford escort! bloody nice job aswell. i dont know what our next project will be, suggestions (madder the better!) would be cool. kinda like a competition i spose, the winning idea gets built! but i cant garuntee you'll get it though....
so there we are, the flood gates are open, rack your brains!

sounds cool. is it 210 at the crank or 210 to the wheels?
also btw the per ton is not metric ton, but imperial (short) ton

wel, its in and ive taken it for a spin. all i can say is its f*$^kin fast!!!! roll on monday when i can get some sticky rubber fitted and take her for a blast. im booked at a rolling road on mon afternoon for a tune/check up and i'll post the readout sheet i get. im hopin for 210 at the crank, so it will show a little less due to power loss through the gearbox/driveshafts.
ps. it sounds great too with the supercharger whining....

Superchargers are generally awesome additions to a car's sound. They even make my dad's boring Passat TDI sound awesome!

I saw it first!
It would have to be tested out on a welsh beach though. Maybe even daytona.
Alternatively... Autobahn!!!

hi guys, it went very well today, got the car dyno'ed and its makin 208 bhp at the wheels, which is more than i thought. needed a bit of playing with, it was runnin a bit rich, but all is good...the acceleration is stupendous, ive never felt anythin like it, and ive had some quick cars...we estimate 0-60 in about 5 seconds (with a perfect take off) top speed will be about 140 mph due to the low ratio gearbox. the next item on the agenda is a quaiffe gearbox to handle the power. im gonna buy a scanner tomorrow so ill post the dyno sheet.
roll on spring, the drag strip's where im headin...

In front of a Merlin powered Campervan? I doubt it.

If you don't wanna do that, then give me a few months to get my old 63 Comet in working order....
Nice little 289 stuffed under the hood, with the right driver....

What part of Merlin don't you understand? Done correctly it would easily beat 200mph.
