Hi All

Probably a stupid question but I'm pretty new to FS2002...

Can anyone tell me how to enable VOR Navigation ?

Does it have to be enabled in the settings or something or do I turn it on inside the cockpit somewhere?

I've been having a read of the Ground School stuff but I cant work out how to actually turn on the VOR equipment.

Also, once it's turned on, how do you find the VOR Station Frequencies ???

Are there charts somewhere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Perhaps I can help you a little bit.
I wrote a tutorial VOR flying... in Dutch, but there are a lot of images. Maybe that helps. Visit my site on http://www.users.skynet.be/maximil .

Otherwise search on the Net.

Are you using the jets or the smaller props? I'm currently going through RW VOR training right now, and I can tell you it's much more complicated in a prop. I'm sure the tutorial Bourg gave you will help-but lemme give you a crash course.

There is no VOR "equipment", per say, you use your Nav radios to "tune" a VOR. VOR stands for Very Omnidirectional beacon, transmits a signals 1 degree apart (making a 360 degree circle) and is recieved on your Nav1 or Nav2 radios (Nav2 ONLY on jets). When you tune a VOR frequency, you are picking up that stations signal, you are not "enabling" anything.

As for the frequencies, you're probably gonna have to go to the map view because I don't think you can get the freqs off the GPS module.

As for how to actually use VORs, I'm not going to confuse you by trying to explain it in words, because it really does have to be demonstrated (believe me I know Tongue). Your best bet is to try online tutorials with pictures, and/or to fly the lessons. Good luck Smiley
