Have you opened the other runway for landings and/or take offs?

Hi John,

I had this problem too, so I did the same as you : asked the guys here Wink

Basically the ATC will direct an aircraft to the NEAREST runway, in this case i'm guessing ALL the parking is one side of 36R, yes?

The solution is, if you have enough ground space, put some parking the other side of 36L, which means any aircraft parked there will use 36L.
Alternatively you can have one r/way for take-offs and one for landings.

Same thing with landings, we'll use HEATHROW as an example : if approaching from the north side, you'll get runway 9L/27R, almost every time, but if approaching from the south side you'll get 9R/27L, most of the time.

This theory works at almost all airports (including those with North/South facing runways, the further east they begin their approach from, the more likely they'll get 36R. The further west : 36L)

Maybe a bit confusing, but hopefully it helps in one way or another Wink

Good luck,

Carl

Reference cited: Sec. 40 AFCAD Readme:

"When two separate runways are in use, ATC will not divide the load evenly between them, but instead it will assign the runway closest to the direction the aircraft is arriving from for landing.  So at an airport with parallel East/West runways, all traffic arriving from the North will land on the northernmost runways, and all traffic from the South will land on the southernmost runway(s).  This is also, no doubt, to prevent separation problems with crossing arrival/departure streams.  For takeoff ATC will assign the closest runway to the parking spot.

Propeller aircraft are often directed to shorter runways than jet aircraft.  This seems to be keyed to the engine type field in the .air files."
