Just a heads up, but any one looking for a stick with a proper throttle unit, then PC World have the X-45 for £19.99 (reduced from £49.99, seem elsewhere for around £60)

Shocked that's a £80 drop, yeah i wouldn't have been too happy bout that either Tongue. always the same. but there are  times where i am actually very aware that a price drop would happen soon but buy it anyway coz i just can't wait (no, i'm not that rich but u know sometimes u can't help it Grin). i still remember when the ps2 came out. i bought it straight away and a few months later the price dropped a few hundred pounds Roll Eyes

yeah i do that with computer games. Usually they come down in price 5 or 10 quid after the first week, San Andreas for example. but i just had to have it so i bought it for release price. Same will happen with the new Gran Turismo game i guess:)

same here Grin. and the thing is: when you see stuff on tv or magazines about people who camp out in front of shops before some release date, u think "damn, that's just sad". but when san andreas came out i sure was the first one knocking on the store window in the morning Grin.
yup, same will probably happen with gran turismo Roll Eyes

Saitek X45  Stick & Throttle

Thank you Charlie for the info on the above at £19(reduced from £50).
Was lucky, that just got a twist grip Logitech which promptly went and changed it to x45.

A lot of intuition needed to program the buttons via fs9 “assignements” but I managed 20 I usually use, with a lot more available. It flys very well.
A list of the numbers relating to each button would have helped..

The booklet says nothing, and the cd help files only give the profile editor, wich I can not understand what it does. Why program the keabord keys, when you pay for the stick  to avoid them.

Help on this will be appreciated. Is there anothr book?

Besides the rudders under the throttle it also has a rudder trim wheel.

If you use the CD and open in manually in windows explorer there's a complete manual in HTML format which gives explantions on how to use the profiler etc...

It was a lot easier after I found it!

Cheers,

Charlie

Thx again Charlie,
As a sole user of PC & only fs9, is there any advantage using profiler versus the fs9 Assignments?.

Found it difficult, I tried many times to split Rotary 1 wheel for aileron L/R Trim but could not suceed.

Rotary 2 by installation default trims the Rudder; usefull for T/Off Xwind.

But now I find the stick very heavy for arthitic hands, any way to lighten it, like the throttle friction screw under the unit?                  ulindel

Mmm, tricky one that - I find it easiest to use on my lap on a large hardback book.

Profiler wise, I mainly used the FS9 assignments, but what I have done in the profiler is set on of the modes to have the throttle with idle at about 13%, and reheat at 87% an above (the two little detents that there appear to be). Below 13% I have reverse thrust...

In that way it appears quite useful..

So Charlie, I gather that you can use both the fs9 assignements and your profile at the same time.

Which key is used for reverse thrust?

By "heavy" I meant the movement of the stick (push pulling it) not its weight. The throttle has friction screw on its underside, and was hoping for a similar trick on the stick spring which is too strong, could do with a couple of coils less for me. Do I dare try though.

That's what I thought you meant. What I was saying with the book is that it helps distribute the force a lot more evenly, so should make it a tiny bit easier. The only other thing I can think of is maybe clipping the spring up slightly... ???
