I don't really like old Billy, but I certainly don't hate him.  I can listen to his music.  Just not for long!  Wink

His first few albums were very cool; I've always thought of him as a very smart, uncompromising pop genius. Even though I'm kinda burnt-out on his stuff, I still appreciate the lyrics. Not a bad piano player, either.

LOL! Elton is a kooky old thing, but he definitely has had his moments of pop genius, too, IMHO.
  Kinda tired of him, though...

They did this big overblown tour together, don't you remember?
Probably not many don't Smiley LOL!!

Billy Joel had his moments and so did Elton John but something happens to a musician when they start doing songs for movies that can't be explained Wink

For example back in the 70's Elton rocked! can never forget seeing him jamming away on the piano dressed as Donald Duck, only he could get away with that! LOL!!

There have been several recent concert tours featuring Billy Joel & Elton John. http://www.concerttickets.com/concert_reviews/Elton_John_Billy_Joel_Concert_Revi...
Not sure how many were actually fulfilled as many dates seem to have been cancelled for one reason or another. These artists are very temperamental at the best of times & I think their styles are far too similar for the idea to succeed.

I could be wrong but I've always thought that dear old Elton was a pale imitation of Billy Joel. Elton lived not far from here before he became famous & performed with local bands for many years. According to my friend who knew him he was always a talented pianist & spent hours practising every day. I quite liked his earlier recordings but dislike the affected "mid-Atlantic" accent which gets worse as he gets older. It's completely unnecessary. IMHO

If you search for tenderness
it isn't hard to find.
You can have the love you need to live.
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind.
It always seems to be so hard to give.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you

                 How couln't not remember it
Are we having problems here?confuing Billy joel with billy ocean,or Elton J:????
