I found that the RAF Mosquito [stock MS] simply will not work in CFS1 or any other MS sim. Is there something wrong with my disk, or is this the way it is????

The Mosquito is one of the AI Only drones. These are basic models not intended to be flyable & used as AI aircraft in QC & missions. You can convert them to be listed on the menu if you wish by editing the AIR file with AirEd from the Design section. Change the Aircraft Type from 2 to 0. Don't expect them to look or perform well. You're better off with a 3rd party Mossie.

I haven't actually tried it myself* so I'm not the right guy to recommend it, but we have a Mozzie you can download from www.EURO-Downloads.com.
Just go to the CFS1 section and look under "other fighters".

LOL Grizzly. If you spend all your time in the cockpit I don't suppose the visual model makes much difference. I'm sure a flyable virtual cockpit would suit you fine. Tongue Grin

Depends what you're after. I rarely use the defaults in my numerous M$ sims. They make nice targets in CFS & frame-rate friendly AI traffic in FS. That's about the only use I have for them.

Leaving the rotten flight dynamics of a typical AI drone to one side for a moment check this out. First the unanimated CFS1 default Mossie.

Now one of Phil Burnage's early Mossies posted right here at SimV. http://www.simviation.com/cfs1aircraft11.htm

No contest, even with the obvious faults on this early version. IMHO 8)
It was originally intended for use in 3rd party missions. I'm sure he improved on it later but this is the only one I have installed right now.

You can always tell quality.
If I'm ever looking to fly one, I'll go for his.

I must apologise....I did not clarify that I had installed all CFS1 aircraft to CFS2 and listed them in the QC file. All of them worked great, except the Mosquito, for some strange reason. I only wanted to use them as aggressors.

Ah OK. I haven't tried the CFS1 default Mosquito in CFS2. Most of the CFS1 defaults don't display properly in CFS2 anyway but if the others work in QC for you I see no reason why the Mossie would be different. If you really wish to use them try C.A. Simpson's expansion packs here. http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft1.htm These are the CFS1 defaults updated for CFS2.
