Between flying out of CYBW or Springbank Airport in real life and on the game i have noticed alot of differences. Flight sim's version has the general idea but needs lots of imprvement. As there seemed to be no addon scenery available for Springbank out there, I decided to use the skills I know to redo it. I am running a busy life so it will be a long process, working on it in my spare time. Already i have used a satallite image to create a very rough AFCAD file for the airport.

I still need to find a way to get rid of the helipad along side the taxiway as it is  not actually there in real life. Again this is just a rough first draft if anyone has any aditional pictures or information to help me out please feel free. Next i will have to create a few exclude files and do some landclass work.

Are you not able to delete it in AFCAD2? The easiest way apart from that may be to use FSSC to create a small exclusion box round the center of the helipad.

There is a program call ExcBuilderV2 (fs9 XML format) which you can slew around in fs9 to create the exclusions and choose which elements of the default scenery you wish to exclude - this may help you for excluding other things however I don't think it can remove the AFCAD related bits (helipads & taxiways).

Well at first I tried removing it with AFCAD, but the helipad wasn't there in the file. Today i realized that there was another AFCAD file for springbank that had the helipad in it. For some strange reason it must have loaded both of them, I am not sure how but very odd. I deleted the entire second AFCAD file, so now I no longer have the helipad. Thanks for the help.

I have done a little more work to the AFCAD file. When looking at pics and the file i realized that the deault taxiways where too wide/large compared to some of them in real life. Instead i kept the major ones taxiways and then created apron area for the rest so it looks real. Aircraft can still fit on them, as long as you use small aircraft liek cessna's and piper's as is really used there. Next i am going to work on the actual scenery part of it with some of the buildings and exlude files for the default stuff. Sorry about no pic i will have one once i get the first few buildings up.

It's possible to resize the taxiways in afcad2 by clicking the taxiway line (and selecting more then one line by pressing either Ctrl+click or shift+click I can't remember) and then right-click/properties.

...

Let us know how you get on with buildings. What are you using?

Thnaks for the help I didn't know you could change the taxiway widths. I will go backa nd redo the AFCAD file once again. As far as buildings are, I am using gmax to create the models and apply textures, then I simply place them using xml code.

Ok, I have been doing a little bit more work on the AFCAD file STILL! I am doing pretty good with the taxiways and all, except i have one issue. When i load up the game it loads my file with all my additions, but it also loads the default/stock file. In alot of cases the sock covers up some of the new stuff, you can tell because some of the taxiways remain the standard 50 witdth and the ones from the new one poking out in some places are much smaller at 30 feet. The default is over top my new one. Please if anyone can help me with this problem it would help alot.

That shouldn't happen - try using ScanAFD to check for duplicates.

http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=ScanAFD&CatID=fs2004&Go=Search

Other then that I can't think of anything........
