Single seat biplanes are not really good maritime recon/ ASW platforms.

The point is, how many could they manufacture? I was reading the other day that the Nimrod had to be converted from existing Comet airframes as the jigs were broken up many years ago. Unless they have a reserve of old Comets laying around somewhere it doesn't sound a very practical export proposition to me. Roll Eyes

They have all the airfrmes they need for the UK MRA4s, and since that order was cut, several spare. Then, as the MRA4 gradually replaces the MR2, there will be all the remaining MR2 airframes to choose from... Smiley

Then again, the USN probably wanted about 400 of them Wink

Let's just hope that there is as big a difference from FS2000 to FS2002, as it is from FS9 to FS10.  I'm looking for better water effects, and that's about it.

With all the addons, and the quality of the default craft Roll Eyes, i'm not striving for more aircraft.

I'll tell you what I would love to see incorporated in the next version...
...Golden glows on the ground scenery when the sun is shining, especially when it's shining through holes in the clouds... 8)...!
..in fact, the whole scenery to brighten up on a sunny day...!

At the moment the scenery colour remains the same regardless of wether the sun is shining, or not... Cry...!
Only the colour of the individual trees change, depending on the time of year...(apart from snow)...!

Cheers all...!

Paul....loves flying on sunny days...an excuse to don the "shades"... Wink... Grin...!

First and foremost they should find a way to fix the poles.  It's pointless to have airports there the way it is now.  Way too disorienting.

I'm thinking almost none of the CoF historic planes will be back.  The standard fair for sure, but say goodbye to the Vimy, Spirit, Wright Flyer, DH-88, etc...  There may be a riot if they remove the Cub.

My predictions for being dropped:

Vimy
DH-88
Spirit of St. Louis
Wright Flyer
Ford Tri-motor
DC-3
Vega

Retained:

747
737
777
King Air
Baron
C172
C182
Caravan
Caravan Amphib
R22
Lear
Extra
Cub
Mooney
Jenny (or maybe the Camel returns)

Now who did I forget?

I would think that after the CFS3 issue, they would learn a commercial lesson.

I recall that from FS5/FS95 to FS98, MS provided a converter, which helped.

If "FS10" changes the model format *significantly*  (which I tend to doubt) I would hope that they would maintain FS9 backward compatibility, or provide a converter.

I would assume they would. I read on their site that the Microsoft FS designers actually really like the fact that so many people create add ons. They said that it takes much of the pressure off them when "trying to cover every base". They focus more on the entire platform and leave many of the add ons to the designers of the flight sim community. If they took that away, it would be a real loss to the people who design, contribute and create add ons for all.
