Okay, if you insist, here's some interesting shots of Jimmy Franklin and his totally illin' newly-manufactured Waco UPF7... with a little something extra...
This guy has been stunting around forever. If you've ever seen some lunatic doing just-plane-crazy stuff on film or TV, it was probably Jimmy Franklin. His biplane routine is unbelievable, but one year he upped the ante...Yes, that is in fact a GE CJ610-C jet engine. I saw him preflighting this beastie with that jet under the belly and said to myself: "That is just so... wrong. I love it!!"
Radial to idle, smoke on, jet throttle up... 4500 lbs. thrust will take a Waco upstairs in a hurry! It's weird to hear that roar as you watch a biplane climb... That's his son, Kyle, atop the wing.
This is a very cool father/son activity; they call this pose "the Javelin".
The clouds were perfect that day... few things say "America" like a 40s-era biplane with a jet engine (and some guy standing on the wing)!!
