Now, see- I hadn't thought of going back that far. To see Beethoven on stage- Wow! That would be something.

Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Cream: missed all three; had gigs.  Pick only one?  For me, Jimi.  But I must say, what a great question!

If you did it's very doubtful you would hear them because of the screaming female fans. They couldn't even hear themselves at big outdoor venues so the quality wasn't anything to write home about. You're better off listening to the recordings.

Which is exactly why they stopped touring.

That & the fact that they could no longer duplicate their recordings live. Lots of effects were only possible in the studio, mainly done on a 4-track tape machine & splicing razor. The equipment wasn't quite as advanced in them days. In fact it was prehistoric.  Amplification wasn't like it is now either.

Have you seen or heard those screaming teenage girls? They would trample you to death to touch their heroes & think nothing of it. Not interested in you in the slightest. You go if you want. I'm stayin' right here thanks very much. Tongue Grin

True enough, it'd be dangerous... but of course, time machines can hover for long periods, so I'd watch from a safe distance.Grin    I agree that it would not be much of a musical experience- I've seen the footage. That concert at Shea Stadium especially... with the PA they had there, even if the young ladies were sitting quietly, it'd would've sounded like crap.

My spanish teacher saw The Beatles live at Shea Stadium, she said most of the girls fainted when The Beatles came out.

I would see the last Beatles concert, on top of their studio in the UK. I would also see Led Zep, KISS, Buddy Holly, and the beach boys before 1/2 of them died, and Hendrix.

I guess I would go to see Bach playing. If the range of my time machine was not that long I would choose woodstock

Well to be fair that would mean eliminating many forms of music as rap has roots in many styles of music.
