Hey,
I use a french version of FS2002. I cannot understand a word the air traffic control people are saying. I bought this game in france, but the person who sold it to me said I could change the language to english in the control panel. I hate that idiot. So I need to know if anyone knows any patch or mod that will change atleast all the text to english?

If there isn't then can someone please give a solution to this problem? Obviously I cannot go back to france and kill that person. Anyway please help, thanks.

I am sorry if i offended anyone.  Embarrassed

There is a file in Enlish versions of FS called USEnglishBig.gvp or USEnglishSmall.gvp in "FS main directory\Sound" containing the ATC message.  I don't know if this is legal, but if it is, you might get hold of that file by somebody emailing it to you or something, and then try to put that file in the "\Sound" directory instead of "FrenchBig.gvp" Grin or whatever your ATC file is named.

Or maybe you already have "USEnglishBig.gvp" or "USEnglishSmall" on your installation CD:s.

Good luck anyway.

First of all I need all the text transformed to english. Can someone please kindly send all the english text files to admin@mktutorials.com please? The after that I'll look about getting the audio and video files.

Someone please send me the english text files, and if you would kindly give me the instructions on which files to replace them with. And also I am sure that this is definatly not illegal.  Smiley

If you bought the disc legally in France I would be suprised if Microsoft refused to help you, people knock them regularly, but I have found them to be very helpful. papa-metro usaf 1953-57

Keep it. After a while you'll get a feel for what they're saying. Then you can discuss ATC messages with french people. Grin

Insert CD #1 in your drive, it should auto run. If not, use Explorer to run setup.exe from the CD.

Look near the top of the setup screen. Voila!

Sorry. No offence intended but this always seemed a tad dodgy to me. If M$ says the ID doesn't match that confirms it. Surely if the ATC is in French, so is the whole interface which would make it difficult to use. From what I've seen of European versions of FS the file names will be different & most likely incompatible with the English version. I suggest it would save both you & everyone else a lot of bother if you purchase a genuine English language version of FS2002. Sorted.

oh I give up. I am sorry for moaning a lot but I have another problem. I recently borrowed my friend's joystick. I enabled the joystick, but whenever I try to use it, the plane just goes straight to the left all the time. I have tried calabrating (or whatever) the joystick but it still does not work.

Can some one help please. I am incredibly sorry for asking too many questions  Embarrassed Cry

Hello twistedsucker,

Unfortunately I can't help you as far as the English files go, but I read your last post concerning the problem you have with your joystick.

You didn't say what aircraft you were trying to fly, but if it has more than one engine it could be worth checking that all the throttles are working in sync. (click on the little square button that looks like a plane to open up the throttle window & then see what happens when you move the throttles). If only one of the throttle sticks is moving then you can synchronise all the engines by pressing 'E' followed quickly by '1' '2' '3' & '4' (depending on how many engines you have of course).

Another problem could be the setting of the 'rudder trim', to make it easy, if you are flying in clear weather (i.e. no sidewinds) then the 'rudder trim' should be set to the centre of the gauge.

You also sound like your getting a bit frustrated with the whole flightsim thing, but it's well worth persevering & sticking with (especially if you want to be a pilot), I had all sorts of problems with planes going up & down & up & down when I first started & was forever blaming my joystick - but then I found out about pitch/trim & realised i'd been wrong all along!!!!

Don't give up with FS02 - it's great fun.

These solutions are by no means the advice of an 'expert' (& maybe someone else will correct me), but i hope that maybe one of them can solve your problem.

Happy landings twistedsucker............................

It would help to know which aircraft you're using. I imagine most people start off with the default flight in the Cessna. If the joystick is correctly calibrated the first thing I would suggest is that the veering to the left is caused by prop torque & P-effects. This is quite normal but should only affect prop aircraft, most noticeable at full power on take-off. The answer is to compensate with right rudder or adjust the right rudder trim. You could also reduce the Aircraft Realism settings until you get used to it.

PS. Unless you have a joystick with separate rudder control enable Auto-rudder from FS2002 Settings.

& don't worry about asking too many questions, you'll soon find that most people on this forum are only too willing to help out if they can.

If you don't know, then you only need to ask.

Now, - is there anybody out there who can explain this whole 'landing gear' thingy for me - what's all that about?? & when the h*ll do i use it?? Grin?? Grin?? Grin??

It's just a rumour I heard, i've looked all the over the cockpit & still can't see it, there is a big handle for it in the planes, but each time I use it, it sounds like it's just switched on the coffee machine.

I wait & wait for ages, but i still don't get no danged coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I am using the Cessna as a test. It moves to the right as soon as I increase the throt, and when I get up in the air, the plane goes everywhere. This is very annoying, I tried installing the joystick in custom mode but the same thing happens. The same thing happened when I tried using my uncles joystick, but I thought there was a problem with that joystick only.

I borrowed the joystick I am using now from my friend and he said that an installation cd didn't come with it. And also I am not going to give up FS2002, see my sig, my greatest ambition is to become a pilot. The joystick is called PC LINE Tournament Pro, does anyone have the same joystick?

Ain't the "landing gear" the anchor and chain you throw out the back immediately before landing?

I guess that would explain the loud scraping noise & sparks - I just assumed it was dodgy wheel bearings & poor maintenance. Grin Grin

I would help you if I could, believe me. I think you've placed yourself under an unnecessary handicap by giving youself problems that nobody can answer. First, you apparently have the French version of FS2002 that very few members here will have any knowledge of. I certainly don't. Secondly, your joystick problem. I did a search for PC LINE Tournament Pro joystick & can only find a Gamepad version. http://www.comp-buyer.co.uk/buyer/shopper-labs/65812/pc-line-tournament-pc-gamep...
I have no knowledge of Gamepads & don't even know if it's possible to configure one for FS2002. Sorry. I really mean that.

Ever thought of ebay?

Sorry, thats not meant to sound sarcastic - it's just that no-one here knows how to help you with the English files.

If I were you then I would have a look on ebay, I know it's a pain in the a*se having to pay out for another copy, but you could probably pick one up for £15, (a small price to pay to avoid having a heart attack - try getting that on BUPA - "Hi, i'm dieing - but i've only got £15 on me" - they'd show you the door mate). Wink

Honestly i'm not being sarcastic - I think ebay is a good option.

Secondly: I think that most people aren't sure of the legality of 'sharing' these files & aren't too keen about advertising the fact that they are breaking the law by agreeing to email you the requested software.

I hope you manage to sort out your problem & best of luck with the flying.
