Hi guy's I'm unfortunatly a newbie to this forum so please bear with me! I discovered Airfield editor in the downloads (utilities section) on this site for FS2004! I am in the Royal Air Force and can get maps of Airfields currently in operation/de-commisioned! My nearest Airfield to home is RAF Syerston - to cut a long story short, I drew all the taxiways on Syerston using this editor but I find that their are trees and stuff in the middle of these taxiways! How can I remove these? Also I'd like to maybe put some hangars on this airfield to - how is this done? Thanks guys for your patience!

Never come across airfield editor so not sure on its sepcific use but it sounds like you need to exclude the generic scenery. I am right that RAF Syreston is not active so will not show up as an airfield in FS2004 (FS9). I have used FSSC to create an airfield and have used scanned images as a background and simply placed taxiways and runways over the top. FSSC allows you to exlcuded default scenery, navaids etc and place your own.
In terms of hanger you will have to either create your own macro or use ones created by other available on this site. A macro is just the name for an object such as a hanger, tower, fence etc that can be place using another untility. I use FSDS but there is also Gmax and Easy Object Creater
(see this post
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=scn;action=display;num=109...
)
I have just finished my version of RAF Leeming which I have uploaded here at SimV and will appear in the download section soon. I also plan to upload the macros I created for this project at UKSD and Simv which will an include RAF Type C Hangers.
I know this does not directly help but is of some benefit. There is loads of posts in the forum on programmes to use, it can be confusing though.

This is not that kind of forum and we're not (well, I'm not) of that persuasion

Would it be possible to find the exact name of the program you used for the taxiways etc? There is no program for FS scenery design which I have heard of with the name of "airfield editor" - however there are quite a few different programs which do the job.
I'm assuming its AFCAD2 your using. If so both things are possible. To exclude the buildings and trees you can use a program called excbuilder2 to do this - you can choose which elements of the default scenery you want to exclude.
To place objects it depends on what sort of macros you plan to create or use. If you use macros for RAF buildings already produced then they are likely to be in the api format. You can place these using fssc or obplacer.
If you can find or make some in MDL/XML format then you can place these with ObplacerXML or ScenegenX.
If you want to create your own (were in a bit of a muddle about what to recomend to beginners) then these are the different options:
Gmax: The best platform of design for 3dobjects for scenery design. However there is a reasonably steep hill to climb especially if you’re not a computer whiz. I recommend you download it & the gamepack and at least have the icon on your desktop!
EoD: An Antique now unfortunately but can still produce a decent simple macro. If you can't get your head around Gmax you may want to start here - it has limitations and the macros it produces may not be viable in the next version of FS.
FSDS: Payware unfortunately - more advanced then Eod with currently the same drawback of possibly not being compatible with FS10.
Hope this helps.
