Looks like the alpha channel may be the problem. Check it out with Dxtbmp and set it to a mid grey.

When you open your image in DXTBMP you should see the alpha channel in the box on the top RH side.
Using the tabs, open alpha edit and repaint/change the areas involved. Save alpha, then save the texture as usual.

Thank you for your reply.
should I do the repaint on the alpha when I send it to the editer?

When I do a repaint should I delete the old txeture, and then add the new texture or does it matter?

Yes to the first part, turn the black areas in the alpha into mid grey, and it shouldn't matter with the second, just overwrite the old texture.

Hi Batman. Are you sure that's the correct texture? From what I can see there should be a separate one for the tail section. This would need the same Alpha channel colour as the main fuselage. If you edit the Alpha channel don't forget to refresh Alpha from DXTBmp for the changes to show up.

The first picture is the alpha channel to the second picture  the main fuselage tex. See if I have it right the color of the alpha tail, and the main fuselags need to be the same. in other words they need to be gray, right? I get that part. I want to repaint the main fusalage the same color as the tail. I've tried to make the alpha channel on the main fuselags the same color as the tail, but it had no effect. Here is the tail alpha, and the tail texture.

Communication error!!??
I thought the problem was that the orginal "grey" fuselage had gone "chrome". The alpha mask you show should have given you a "shining" grey surface.
Note the alpha for the tail section is white, indicating a non-reflective surface.

From your last post I'm thinking you actually want to paint the fuselage the same blue colour as the tail section! Yes or No?

The alpha channels you show match up with the image.
Please explain again, sorry.

Ya I want to paint the main fuselags, and wings the same blue as the tail. The problem I'm having is when I try to paint the fuselags, and wings with the same color as the tail they dont mach up.

I have tried changing alpha channels,  but there has been no effect. Do I need to change the alpha to the fuselage to match the tail alpha, or do I need to change the tail alpha channel? I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused  Sad on how to save the alpha after editing. It should be as easy as clicking save aftter I finish editing.

Hi Batman. I think the problem here is that both Merlin & I were confused as to what you want to do. If you wish to change the colour of the fuselage to match the tail the first stage is to paint the main fuselage texture blue. The next part is to make the Alpha channel match the one used on the tail. I don't know which paint program you use but I find this easy enough in PSP7 which I have set as the default editor for DXTBmp. Double-click on the Alpha channel image in the top right-hand window of DXTBmp. The image should open in your paint program. Edit the image then exit the paint program, saving changes on exit (or click File/Save). Back in DXTBmp click Alpha/Refresh Alpha to load the edited Alpha channel. Finally, save the texture in the appropriate format.

One thing you didn't mention. Which sim is this for?

As Hagar says, we mis understood. The problem isn't the alpha, you need to paint the fuselage texture image blue to match the tail, then worry about the alpha.
