I read in another Forum about a program call Java Gun Cemera. I was wondering if any one has ever install it and if it works with CFS2.

Found the details via Google. Requires a 15Mb download of the Java drivers(!!!) and from what I can see its just a screen capture package, with a little bit of image manipulation to make the shots look B&W, grainy etc.

I wasn't prepared to wait on a 15Mb download just to trial it. I think something like Snagit would do the same job.

Merlin66 what is a Snagit and where can I get it. Does it work like a gun camera. How do you install it. I would appreciate it.

Stiz, that's the java hit page. When you check it out you need a 15Mb download!! Just installed the demo of FRAPs looks very promising.

I have good news . Their is Gentelman on the Netwings forum that claims that it works in CFS3 and Pacific Fighter. I asked him if he could give us some Idea to install in and make work. I hope he will be kind to us and shows us on how to use it. This will increase our enjoyment of this Simulator tremendously.

The more we work together the better it will be for all of us.

Hi,
Gave this try and works OK with CFS2. The download is pretty small if you don't need java.

Basically carries out a series of screenshots when you use the gun buttons on a joystick.  (so should work with any Sim)

You can specify the size of image which affects how much "footage" you can take.

Presumably due to when it captures the screen - if flying 2D - you can get some "frames" without the panel every now and then.

The still images would then have to be combined into a "movie".  I have just played with a fast slide show in IfranView and is not a bad effect.

It is easy to use - you just fire it up and "activate camera" and play your sim.  Once finished you go back and "develop" (appears to be save from memory to disk).

I am on 2.8 Ghz P4 HT with 512Mb and using XP sp2 ... and no major impact on frame rates etc.

Cheers,

     GG

Here I got post from a member from Netwings. He was kind enough to give instructions on how to install the Gun camera.

Greenghost if you found a better way please enlighten us. Thankyou.

~S~

Glad to be of help (even if it was on another forum... Shhh Wink)

By the way - for those of you disinclined to follow the link to Netwings, I recommend JPGVideo for combining your java gun cam frames into avi format and then Windows Movie Maker for converting the file type, reducing the filesize, adding captions, etc.

JPGVideo available here: http://www.ndrw.co.uk/free/jpgvideo/
