No it cant. You can see many jagged edges where its been edited round the deck and wheels.

I think it's an obvious fake. Even I could do that & I'm hopeless at image editing. However it has been done with a C-130 & a U-2. Check this out.

The U2 was a pain to land on a long runway, i would hate to think what it was like on a carrier.

It looks like a cloud you see in the sky, again there are too many sharp edges plus flat lines in it to be part of the original.

I would say the smoke is from the same image as the C-17. You can clearly see the straight line of the runway it was really landing on. It would be very easy to crop it & paste it directly over the carrier. A young child could do it.

It's fun, but an obvious fake. The first thing I noticed was the scale... even that far back, it would appear MUCH larger.

That C-17 has been compressed sideways to make more of it "fit on the carrier deck".....the "smoke" I would guess, is dust from a dirt strip from some test or flying drop of cargo.....even I could have generated an image like this one..........

first the wingtips would smash the tower of the carrier. second, a C-130 is capable of doing this, but only when it has some JATO's attached to it. a C-17 which is alot heavier, wouldn't be able to lift of so quickly, not even when it's empty and low on fuel.
