...well I think we all knew that, but I need help with my camera. And more specifically the transfer.

I can't get them to upload. Usually I stick the cable into the camera and a window pops up and tells me to click okay and start transfering. It worked fine for about the first year I had it.

Around October it got hit or miss, mostly miss. I don't know what the problem is, but sometimes it does it and sometimes not. It hasn't done it at all for about a month now.

Craig told me to get a new cable but I wouldn't know where or how much it would cost, seeing as I would have to buy it which I dont wanna do.

I try to manually do it but this is the error message.

...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
James

Umm standard question..? What version of windows is it?

Have you gone into the my computer to see if there is a new device attached? SHould show a removeable media device if it is truly conencted...

I just plug the thing in go to my computer and pull them off...

to timbucktu with there little programs that do the same thing..

Also you could do like I do and put a front panel card reader in..Wink

I think you may have a defected memory card.

You said it worked before and then slowly started not working. I think that the card got "worn out" and now it is not working. And so when the camera tries to access the card, it can't and so it gives the error message that the card does not exist.

If that is the case, the memory card (or CompactFlash card, more specifically) is defective. CF cards usually last much longer than that.

Here's a test to try out.

Take the card out of camera and try in a CF reader. If you don't have one, you can buy one (they aren't much and are very useful) or you can go to a nearby electronics sotre. Sometimes, they let you borrow theirs.

Try it in a Compactflash reader or another camera. IF that does not work, then the card is defective.

Unfortuately, I know of no way to get data off a defective card.
