Hi

I'd like to land on a carrier and stay on it. Most jets have tailhooks but I don't know how to use them.

Can anyone help me?

The tailhooks don't work.  You might be able to land a C-172 without external aids but that's about it.

You can pay $30 for Flight Deck 3 (a payware upgrade of ArrCab) - or if you're really lucky you might be able to find the old freeware ArrCab somewhere.

http://www.abacuspub.com/

Or you can install Rob Barendregt's freeware Carrier Ops gauge http://www.simviation.com/fsgauges_7.htm ;  If you're not a panel designer you can find a few panels that already have the gauge installed.  This is my personal choice.  I have the old Arrcab but I haven't used it since this package came out.

I recall some aircraft used something called a superspoiler but I never tried that technique.

Thanks

I've not tried yet to make a panel but I've managed to make some changes. (I'm relatively new to this)

Thanks anyway.

I've made the changes to a F18 (Rob Barendregt's carrier Ops gauge)
and it (except for the meatball hut) works

Thank You Webb

The meatball needs one more tweak to work in FS02 - otherwise you see a black rectangle when you try to open it.

Open panel.cfg and:

[Window06]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=240,240
position=7
visible=0
ident=10011
render_3d_window=1        <------- ADD THIS LINE
window_size= 0.230, 0.310
window_pos= 0.390, 0.140

gauge00=rcb-miljet!Ball,  0,0,240,240

Don't worry about any of the other numbers - just add the render_3d-windoe=1.

Sorry, it still won't work.

If I make the changes as suggested the meatball doesn't show at all.

The installation instructions can be a little tricky but if you follow them to the letter and add the render_3d_window line (this tip came from the author) it should work.

Hi,

I have installed the F-14 Tomcat with the "superspoiler" on FS2002. I hope I did it right.

When I do a normal take-off and click on the / the superspoiler comes in action... good. But at the moment that I do a touch down on mij aircraft carrier, a message occurs, asking if the sound files are available.

There is a gaugesound.dll and I put the FSUIPC.dll for FS9 in Modules too, but FS refuses to start. So I deleted both .dll. Still this message comes up.
How can I arrange that it work... even without sounds if neccessary.

This superspoiler is fantastic.

I like also to know what key is needed to perform a catapult launch; I know already the / key is for the quick stop.
The meatball seems not to work... because FSUIPC 3. ... is not installed ?
I put the tweak and I see this meetball.

Hi,

I have just made a test. So, as long as I do not touch the flight deck (and I stay above the flight deck), I can click the / key and perform a quick landing on the deck without this message. Fine. Because the carrier I use is the one of navy2002.zip.
This is of course not the meaning, but so far it is better than nothing. Someone with a better solution ?
Now I have to search how I perform a launch...
Running FS2002 !

Hi,

Everything works fine now ! Run FS2002, FSUIPC latest version for FS2002 installed and the proposed install for gaugesound.ddl and sound.dll not installed. Tweak as described before, set.
Take-off launch with sound and landing OK and in one word: fantastic. Meatball and gauges on panel placed and working... as it should.
An applaus for the designers !

if you go to avsim and search for ArrCab  there is a freeware version a bit like it i think.
