Southwest airlines at MKE? (Read 199 times)

Hey everyone,

I was thinking that Southwest should fly to MKE(Genrell Mitchell in Milwaukee, WI). I know they fly to MDW and MKE is pretty close, but I could really see them flying to MKE. Probably to LAS. The only other airline that flies from MKE to LAS is Midwest. There are a LOT of people who go to Vegas from Wisconsin. It's really a big thing to do for people here.

Tell me your thoughts. Smiley

Depends on the restrictions on southwest for flying there.  Someone like silver can give you a better answer on that though.
i would imagine with the proximity to O'hare/midway, the company see no need to goto a smaller airport.

Not much to do in Wisconsin!

MKE is not that small. They have jets flying in and out of there in 3 minute intervals and a lot of times more often. Granted most of it is Midwest and regional jets. America West flies into MKE and they are smaller than Southwest.

I hope Silver1 sees this thread! Wink Grin

Southwest is definitely open to new venues, I can tell you that much-they just opened their new Boston route at PHL.  Maybe they will notice MKE (it's a great airport by the way, really cool air museum in the main concourse).

They are also starting service out of PIT and I've heard rumors of DEN also so you never no. It's just that me, as a Wisconsin resident, would like to see this great airline here. Smiley

I've never been in the air meuseum and well....I've did'nt even know it existed. Undecided Whats it like?

Oh, and beefhole, I've heard you mention that you like the Badgers and now that MKE has a great meuseum and I was wondering, have you ever lived in Wisconsin or something?

My dad is one helluva proud Wisconsiner... when we beat the pack 47-14 he went around saying "I have no son..."  When we beat the pack last year in the divisionals we almost got into a fist fight (that was fun hehe). He grew up in Milwaukee and went to Wisconsin University for part of his college education (hes had like 8 years of college).  My grandparents live in Milwaukee, and we visit them on average twice a year.

When you enter the main concourse (the one with the art hanging on the ceiling and all the shops) the museum is tucked back in the left corner, I believe.  It's got a diarama of olden days MKE, a big thing on general Mitchell and a whole display just for Midwest Express (did they change it to Midwest Airlines yet? I heard things weren't looking to good for them. They stopped serving cookies!). Recommend you check it out.  Wink

I mentioned on another thread that I've been to the EAA air museum like 4 times. I plan on going again!
