I bought a Pentax S50 Digital Camera. When I connect my camera to the computer's USB port, the computer does not recognize the new hardware. My OS is WIN98SE but I suspect that the installed USB is of the 1.1 version. The camera is a USB 2.0 peripheral. The camera is compatible with both XP and WIN98SE. Do you guys think I have USB compatibility problem here?
If I do, I'll install a dual port 2.0 USB card and that should do it.

Also is the camera back-wards compatible? Ie works with anything less than 2.0? Some do, some don't...

USB2.0 is backwards compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1. However, you will loose a lot of speed.

Win98SE does not have native support for USB2.0. Try and get the USB 2.0 driver through the mobo website. Be aware though that the mobo itself must support USB 2.0 (assuming the USB ports are on the mobo).

BTW, if your mobo does not have suuport for USB 2.0 and you have access to a add-in USB2.0 board, by all means, add it in.
