Hi all.

More graphics card woe's!
I'm looking to get rid of my Nvidia Gforce 4 MX440 se 128mb  and replace it with a Radeon 9600xt.
I've found one by Crucial with 128mb for £105.74, but have also found a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT 256 MB at overclockers for £102.17.
My MoBo will only support 4xAGP at 1.5v. Both cards seem to support this.
I'm hoping for a serious boost in Frame rates. Oh and some reflections would be nice!

Not looking to spend much more than £100 ish.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Connect3D ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-025-CO)

Is only £100.76 at Overclockers, there are a few to choose from there.

Just dont go for any ATI card that ends with SE.

A 9800pro would be nice as its has a 256bit interface where as the 9600xt only has a 128bit interface.  Bit over your budget though they are going for about £140.

If your gonna spend that though

XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT43A-NDF7) (GX-024-XF)

this week only, £147.  Should outperform the 9800pro.

It outperforms it by far. Don't bother with a 9800 if you can get a 6600 GT.

As for 9600, go with the one with 256 mb. Its the same chipset, but one has more ram and could possbily offer a small performence increase, especially at higher resolutions.

Thanks Guy's.

It really is quiet mind boggling and of coarse then there's the thorny question of fitting the blooming thing.

Watch this space.

All the best and a happy new year.

P.S.

I was flying arround Las Vagas last night. I had my frame rate locked at 25 as ussual. They actually hovered arround 24.8 but never reached 25. I then changed the lock to 50 and was amased when my actual frame rates went up tp 30+
