Video Card Question? (Read 144 times)

Ok guys....and gals if any are out there.  Grin
My next upgrade is gonna be to get rid of this Nvidia Geforce4 MX 420 video card, according to the system info it is a PCI card, and the way I understand it there are PCI, and AGP cards, which is best? And can I use an AGP card or am I stuck with using a PCI card?

My computer is a Dell Dimension 8300, 2.6 Ghz Pentium 4, which brings up another question, can I replace the video card in it? I know some computers the video cards are integrated into the motherboard  Sad

If it can be replaced, give me some ideas of what would be good video cards. Also for right now, and the money I will be able to spend I am probably looking at only a 128 MB card, which should be better than this 64MB thing I have now.  Grin

Sorry for all the questions, and everything, but I am not really as computer savvy as some people, although I am learning a lot, and I have found the people here to be most helpful  Grin

Thanx in advance
And have a MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR  Grin

Your stuck with PCI. Upgrading to AGP would require a new motherboard which in turn will most likely require a new processor (because of socket differences).

The geforce4 mx 420 is not an integrated gfx solution, so you can upgrade it.

I recommend a PCI nvida geforce FX 5200 w/128 mb.

Here is one that could suit you:

I'm in the same boat- I have a dimension 2400 with integrated graphics also, and there are a couple options from what I've seen... the Radeon 9200(SE) or the FX5200

hope this helps... http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=hardw;action=display;num=1...
