Apperently AirNav is getting into the flight simulator market. This is one add-on I may need to pick up...

FS Live Traffic

Quote:
AirNav Systems is the market leader for Flight Tracking Software.
MyTraffic, awarded for the third time as best AI traffic add on for the Microsoft Flight Simulator by more than 9000 voters of the Simflight award, brings the most complete, yet working and frame rate friendly AI traffic into your flight simulator.

These two best of the best now came together to develop FS Live Traffic.

What is it about? No longer your traffic will follow the published schedules of airlines, as first generation AI traffic products did, or optimized schedules for the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 world, as MyTraffic does - now you will jump into the traffic as it is in real world - your simulation will initiate one minute before you fire up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

Every canceled flight, every delay, every extra flight will show up, live instead of records. Sounds complicated? Not at all. You just start a small program that fetches the necessary data from AirNav Systems servers and starts a converter that creates a traffic scenery file - once this is done you start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. No longer you waste your time with optimizing traffic - you are live.

I just downloaded the demo file and MIGHT try it out.  The docs that come with it are a bit weak in the content department.  And it is one of those "auto install" things too.  It appears from the docs that it removes all existing AI traffic by disabling the existing traffic bgl file.

The basic idea is GREAT........ been waiting for someone to marry the AI files and real time data for a long time........ but it only covers the USA  Roll Eyes.  Since I do a lot of flying other places........ not sure it will add what I really want it to be.

The $70 price tag is a tad steep... and I REALLY wonder how long the on line subscription lasts that comes with it.  The docs don't really say anywhere I could find.  For their other service, you have to pay an annual fee to keep it running.  I looked at that program once before and thought it was pretty interesting..... and decided the fees were not really worth it for me.

Anyway....... this concept is a step in the right direction when combined with real time weather.  Wonder what we'll have running in about 10 years  Grin?

best,

.....................john
