The problem ppl had in IL-2 was with the  slow firing cannon like the P-39's 37mm.
You could get 50m behind a FW-190, pop off a single round right into its wing, and it would fly on as if nothing happened, because there weren't enough projectiles to average out what the results would be (I guess).

Then maybe Aces High has changed too, since when flying a Yak 9P (or T, I forget) with a slow firing cannon, I have managed single shot kills  ...  it could be there's an "average" for fast firing mgs (Spit 1's 8 x .303) and a projectile calculation for the slow firing cannon ??

Interesting...

Right I've just spent 40 mins this morning going through this thread doing "housework" so here are a few reminders for those of you who are to stupid/selfish/lazy (delete as applicable) to do this properly;
IMAGES

No more than 8 to a post, maximum size 500kbs in total and no single image over 100kb in size!
Image size to be 800*600!
No linked images!

All of this is clearly stated in the image upload page!

Kindly sort it, I've deleted about 30 posts from this thread as frankly I couldn't be bothered to clean up after people and correct their mistakes for being to stupid/selfish/lazy to post correctly in the first place!
Any further repeats of this will be deleted and the offenders reported to the webmaster Angry

Ozzy72 Angry

Ps. Those of you with linked avatars have been reported to the webmaster as it is a offence for which you can be banned Angry

No worries Dave, I've already PM'd over 20 people about oversized avatars alone this morning, and the list of people with linked images (especially avatars) is growing (Pete is going to be busy). I think we'll see quite a few bannings somehow Grin And not before time, if they can't respect this site and its rules then I don't think they'll be very welcome around here!

Sorry to be OT, but I don't understand "no linked images".
In an other thread, I posted images that were uploaded at another site (imageshack or something similar) and then linked to the post with the help of IMG tags. Some were thumbnails.

If this is not the proper way to do it, how do you link images in a post?

You DO NOT link from other sites to here, it is an offence which can and most likely will see you banned! We have had virus attacks and all sorts from this kind of stupidity, and that is why it was banned and people who do it are banned!!!!
If you wish to post images then click on the Upload Images text near the top of the page in the blue bar under the Simviation logo and upload accordingly and then follow the procedure there to do images in threads please.

Its really amazing how a bunch of stupid/selfish/lazy (delete as applicable) clueless dumbos can generate a thread which creates 19,000 hits for this site while the self-proclaimed brilliant/altruistic/industrious,/clued-in mods, who took almost 4 months to get around to spending 40 whole minutes moderating, don't generate even marginal traffic on thier own.

Guess the typical, less then 100 hit thread, is way more manageable for wannabe banners.  Roll Eyes

Thought Marks gleeful comment "I think we'll see quite a few bannings somehow  Grin" was very telling.  Shocked

That & using the "B" word 5 times in two posts brings to mind "I love the smell of the "B" word in the morning, it smells like POWER.

BTW do or don't you ban yourselfs for calling your members, including a large number of new ones attracted by this thread,  names like stupid/selfish/lazy & clueless?

Enjoy the delete key & ban button, guys  Wink

First off, an apology to the mods for breaking the rules: I posted images @1024x768 resolution using photobucket. I posted images in JPEG format and in what I considered a reasonable resolution for bandwidth concerns.  In my defence I didn't read the rules of the forum and I apologise for that also though I suspect that 99% of members don't actually read the rules!  So for all my sins I offer an unreserved apology.

As for the way the moderators have acted in this thread then I think you guys leave a lot to be desired.  I am not stupid, selfish or lazy (and aren't you breaking your own rules by calling people names?).  A friendly warning post in this thread would have been sufficient for me to edit my posts to follow the rules of the forum but all we get is some heavy handed 'don't do it or else'.  Way to go guys!

A couple of thoughts for you:-

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
With great power comes great responsibilty.

Take ya pick.

  Roll Eyes

Yours disapointedly,

WB.

PS.  How old does a mod have to be on this forum, not very by the looks of it.

Au contraire, mon ami, we mods are generally of the "mature" ages (just turned 52 a few days ago, with no one here to comment on it, thereby turning me into a raving lunatic) ....  However, I will (grudginly) admit to a persistent refusal to act my age.

There are no mods under the mature age of 8 ...

Joking aside, the Simviation Forum rules call for no linked images - if you absolutely MUST - just post the URL link that will open the image in a new browser window, calling it directly -WITHOUT encasing it in the [IMG] [/IMG ]  tags.

As to the WHY of these rules?  You can argue virus attacks, popups, bandwidth, etc., but the end result is , because that's the rules.

Sure, we'll see people that will link images, upload too much/ too big images, etc.  Sometimes the issue can be easily resolved by a mod, other times it takes the help of the poster.  Sometimes, it's too much too fast, and the only way is to take a knife to the post...

We're getting off topic (again) so let's bury the hatchet(s) (no, Ozzy is NOT a valid target) and get back to discussing the compromises made between PF and CFS3.

Happy Belated Birthday Felix & thanks for the rational explanation of the rules.  Grin

I think WB will find that the two mods in question are a bit younger then you are & just about twice as old as he thinks they are  Wink

In defense of my esteemed colleagues, they've been bearing (unintended pun) the brunt of policing the image sizes, etc., as well as dealing with newborns.  You know, when dealing with real stinky poop, and then coming to dealing with just virtual poopy details...

Of course when I lose my temper, it's not just posts that get deleted, it's the whole frigging thread!

Having been booted off more forums than you guys have had hot dinners, I'd like to say that the moderators here appear very generous, reserved, and most importantly impartial. So they get my respect.
You should meet some of the Tin God assholes on the other boards and the cliquey friends they protect from dissent. Believe me, you wouldn't be allowed to mention PF again.
