who told you that Pacific Fighters was designed to "historically re-create the major Pacific battles in the carrier wars & island hopping campaigns"?

What part of "PACIFIC
FIGHTERS
don't you understand?

Here's a clue since you seem to have difficulty with this concept: a fighter is an aircraft.  Typically they do not carry torpedoes nor are they ocean-going vessels sporting heavy caliber cannons..

Direct from the UBI & Maddox B__L S__T mill:

From the creators of the critically acclaimed IL-2 series comes an accurate and action-packed
RE-CREATION of the epic battles of the Pacific

The award-winning flight combat from Oleg Maddox’s IL-2 series moves the setting from the Eastern front to the fierce combat of the Pacific theater. Allied fighters and
BOMBERS
square off against the notorious air power of the Japanese empire. For the first time, a large variety of British aircraft will be included along with the U.S. and Australian planes.
Target enemy ships, vehicles, airfields,
and a host of AI-controlled aircraft.
RE-ENACT some of the most famous air battles of WWII in places like Pearl Harbor (an island), Guadalcanal (an island), and Iwo Jima (an Island).

Game Features

Fly a variety of WWII fighters and
BOMBERS
: Fly for the U.S., Japan, Great Britain, and Australia in famous fighters such as the F6F Hellcat, the deadly Japanese Zero, and the UK’s Supermarine Seafire. Flyable
BOMBERS
such as the
Aichi D3A1 Val, BG4M2 Betty, (BTW the BETTY is still missing from the box) SBD Dauntless, and A-20 Havoc
are also included. Over 40 flyable aircraft models are available.

Maps of the most famous battles of the Pacific: 16 new maps are included with
FAMOUS HISTORICAL
locations such as
Midway (an island), Okinawa, (an island) Pearl Harbor (an Island), and Singapore (an island)
.

Attack a vast array of targets ranging from railroads to
BATTLESHIPS(sporting heavy caliber cannons)
: Ground objects such as trains, trucks, and tanks can all be pounded from the air.
TORPEDO historically accurate ships
, drop parafrags on enemy airfields, and encounter over 100 other targets on the ground and at sea.

I suggest you take your copy of PF to where-ever you bought it and try to get your money back, since the sales-clerk has taken advantage of your poor reading comprehension and tricked you into buying something that doesn't meet your high standards.

I can't take Il2/FB/ACE/PF back to a retail clerk at a store since I get them all free directly from UBI's Red Storm division. Grin  Maybe I can always use them as skeet.

BTW. Y'all really have a long, long way to go before anyone will ever confuse you with someone who is sarcastic, clever or having any familiarity with the written word.  Your Ha Ha post is the real you at your best, just stick with it, stay at your own level & don't try to overreach, hear Roll Eyes

Dear Mr. Bear,

As a long-time simulator hobbyist I was interested in trying out CFS3, regardless of all the critique and bad-mouthing it has received from the simming community. Your immature, insulting, boorish and obnoxious conduct in this forum has, however, evaporated my interest, because as an adult I definitely don't want to associate myself with individuals whose behaviour is as lamentable and childish as yours.

I find this a sad state of affairs not only for myself, but for the CFS3 community in general too, because I'm sure I'm not the only one put off by your lack of manners. Thus, I do sincerely hope that you understand this state of affairs yourself, and modify your conduct accordingly.

Hello Msalama. Welcome to the board. I see this is your first post. It's a shame that your first post is an attack on someone who has positively contributed to this board and CFS3 Simulation for quite some time.

You attack would have been more credible if you were already a veteran of this board yourself. In that way, we as a group would know who you were, where you were coming from and perhaps have some respect for your opinion.

Unfortunately, because you are a first time poster, your attack suggests that you are the type of person who drifts around message boards looking for trouble, or maybe a regular from the IL-2 boards wading in here to support your comrades; who are looking pretty foolish at the moment, if I may say so.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions, however misguided they may be. This includes you  of course.  So I hope you'll stick around here and post some more, and not just decide to leave the board because you are so angry at how you perceive it to be deteriorating.
That way we'll know you are a genuine board member and not just someone whose cerebellum has become a depository for excrement. 8)

Dear Mr. Bear,

Thank you for your answer. It merely - and unfortunately - proves my first impression of you to be correct.

However, since I really don't have anything else - or anything constructive, at any rate - to say about this matter, I kindly ask the moderators to delete this account of mine immediately.

If y'all spent less time wrapping yourself in righteous indignation & more time reading the forum info, y'all would know that you can simply delete yourself by pushing the DELETE USER button on your very own User Profile.  Shocked

But I guess a commonsense thing like that would deny y'all the opportunity of making the grand exit y'all so desire.  Sad

In the grand scheme of things, other than for business purposes, does it really matter whether CFS3 is "better" than PF?

In some online games and forums, you constantly hear complaints about "You're in a Thunderbolt, you're cheating if you can outturn my Spit!"  - Of course, it all depends on flight attitudes, etc.  Then, there are the "whiners",  those that "of course" German/British/American/Japanese/Russian aircraft were "better", etc ad nauseam.  SO?  these are GAMES, "simulations" that are tempered by the necessity of playability. '

Maybe a more accurate question is:  Which set of compromises for the sake of playability do you like more - those included in CFS3 or those included in PF?

I must just say Felix that we can all agree to the superiority of CFS3 over PF here. However, every now and then someone buy's PF first and misses out on CFS3. These people then come here preaching about PF and then they have to be reminded that this is a CFS3 forum and that CFS3 is king as far as a CFS3 forum is concerned.

But you can't deny it's not fun watching Bear jump all over the Ubi-zoo folks arguments. Grin

I've got to say that both programs suck  Smiley

I haven't been able to get CFS3 running on my machine (and haven't taken the time to fine tune it or get the CFS3 Update) and I haven't bought PF2, therefore I'm a complete expert on the pros and cons of both programs.

Now, you want a REAL nerve shattering simulation?  ACES HIGH (or Warbirds, I'll concede).  Okay so you're limited to a specific set of airplanes (I still hold hope that some online simulation will decide to do a Gloster Gladiator and/or Fiat Cr.32), but when you can have 700+ online in the same arena at the same time, set up in three different "countries", that has more appeal to me than flying against the AI of (grudgingly admitted good) box simulations.

(Of course maybe the appeal of outlfying a Yak and a Spit9 in a Spit 1 has my idea of fun).

Then there are the multi-frame historical scenarios ...

Maybe - well, not maybe, for sure - the boxed game graphics and eye candy are better the that for the online games, but  ....

Oh well, to each his own poison.. Smiley

Amusing!

Now Bear,

you're giving that guy an excuse to go about telling his buddies how rude and crude us neanderthal americans are.  anyway, I bought PF with great expectation.  i'm not interested in online play.  i want historical simulation of the pacific war.  i've since uninstalled pf.  the last time i visited pf forums, there's an undercurrent of discontent that oleg has seemingly abandonded them.

oh well, i love cfs2.  though i haven't pulled the trigger yet, i expect i'll be owning cfs3 soon.

cheers!

Damn,  the info from UBISoft states there are "BATTLESHIPS" in Pacific Fighters, but I can't actually pilot a battleship!  What a rip-off  Roll Eyes

And there are flyable bombers in Pacific Fighters!  So why can't I fly every bomber that ever flew in the WWII PTO?!?!  Roll Eyes

I hope "y'all" find a good remedial reading course.  Until then, have fun trying to reenact all the air/land/sea battles.  Meanwhile, I'll be having fun flying for the U.S., Japan, Great Britain, and Australia in famous fighters such as the F6F Hellcat, the deadly Japanese Zero, and the UK’s Supermarine Seafire.

OK, get your *ss back in here and do your dancing bear act for your loyal fans!  Grin
