I was visiting the broncos forums as i do from time to time and i noticed they are looking to introduce a sort of respect rating type of system
http://web.denverbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23394
The link will explain it a little better.
Would something like that be workable here, i know some people tend to "post randomly" thinking it helps their standing here. And something like this might help newer users with who to goto for advice and also help the newer users who are able to give advice but are shot down because of their lack of posts. It shouldnt matter but lets face it, it seems to sometimes.

I think ,generally, respect is already here. Wink

What you refer to is probably dependant on the forums capabilities, I don't know if the YaBB 1 Gold - SP1 uses such gizmo's.

I'm all for it, alas, I'd seek kudos in having no respect at all!  Tongue  Grin  Wink

Posting drivel here since Jan 31st, 2002. - That long!

In a twisted sort of way, the Simviation "respect" system is personal and, I believe, better.

You see  the respect a Simviation poster has by the way he/she/it (we do have to include moderators in this) is talked about and/or addressed.

There is a certain "respectful disrespect" that goes on, within the overall sense of humor in here.  After all,. what higher standing do you want than to be considered a worthy candidate to be (orange) maramaladed?

I've found that most people will view a forum long before they jump in and post...which means that they have a pretty good idea of who to listen to and who to ignore.

Respect system also have a downside, they are easily abused and often lead to complaints that "Hey, how come nobody respects me?"

p.s. Felix, I knew that you would throw in "twisted" given half a chance. Smiley

Well said.
I certainly do browse before registering to post.
People learn who the big names are and any sensible person can judge if a person seems a good character.
When in doubt of a person's facts, check another source.

With the many members we have, it would be easy to have complaints- people who have no reason to be disrespected, but don't post enough to get their name out there may be some of the first to complain.

I guess I think if it aint broke, don't fix it.
