Hey guys, just wanted to share a few shots taken recenty at SJC.  I've been busy working a lot lately, so I haven't been very active at SimV lately.  But I wanted to share some pics.  I have to post links because it's friggen impossible to stay within the upload limitations haha.

Here are two shots of my pal "Silver One".  Catch a glimpse while you can.  The latest news around the ramp is that this bird goes into the paint shop for a new coat of blue and red paint at the end of this month.  Yup, sad...it will be converted to the regular "Spirit" colors. Sad  Goodbye "Primer One"...  Cry

Speaking of the "Spirit" colors, here is a -300 in the "new" colors.  It was a rainy day as you can see, but the sun came out and provided some nice lighting just long enough for a photo or three.

Great shots..you have such a awesome job next to being the actual pilot...I see you go rid of the cellphone camera?..or do you still use it?

Haha, I still use it if I need a quick shot.  I now keep my real camera in my locker at work for two reasons.  One, to catch some last photos of "Silver One" before it goes, and two, when my uniform finally arrives, I will have shots taken of me on the job (upon request from some of my friends).

You know, something I have always been fascinated with is the behind the scenes activity in things.  For example, growing up, I was more interested in being a stage-hand for a play rather than an actor.  Back stage is always far more interesting to me.

I was in a rock band once.  That was fun.  I have also been a roadie/guitar tech.  That was a lot of fun too.  I would love to be a guitar tech for a famous band.  That would be rad.

I always liked watching "the making of" my favorite films.  What goes on behind the camera is far more interesting to me.

In the movie Top Gun, I always liked the carrier scenes showing the deck crew hook-up and launch the planes off the deck.  I guess that's why I enjoy this job so much.  It's kind of behind the scenes...goes somewhat un-noticed yet is a critical and very technical aspect of an operation that simply would not be possible without.

I once had a job at a bowling alley as a "pin-chaser" or "pin-monkey"/pinsetter mechanic.  Definitely wasn't anything to be made into a carreer, but I enjoyed it a lot...for the same reason.

I don't understand your problem. I downloaded one of your shots & ran it through IrfanView. It comes out at just over 70k on the default compression setting, well below the forum limit. I can't see much wrong with it myself but this can be adjusted for better quality if you wish.

I think it's much better if we can all see them. That's the whole idea of this forum. Wink

Well I couldn't get the originals down small enough.  IrfnView is weird...you can take any picture, open it and resave it and it will be a lot smaller.  The files I posted were around 200K each.  and thats a huge difference from the originals which are around 1 meg...

Anyway, thanks.

Just for future reference, the file I downloaded & posted above was 149 Kb. I opened it in IrfanView & saved it using the default compression of 85%. If you check the file size it's now 71.8 Kb. I could have used less compression to improve the quality & still keep within the forum lmit of 100k per image. The quality is perfectly acceptable for posting on the web. I could obviously have done a better job if I'd had the original image to work with. Always work from the original image if possible as the quality deteriorates more each time you open & save images in a compressed format.

I suspect you're using an earlier version of IrfanView. If so, I recommend updating it. http://www.irfanview.com/
The latest version makes saving in compressed image formats much easier to understand.
