As a gift for my brother and his wife for Christmas, I am copying his wedding videos to DVD.  I think I did ok on the cover, but I thought I might get a few suggestions from people that could improve it.

The quote is one of my all time favorites, but may be a bit of a downer here.  I intended it give the message that whatever the troubles, it is their attitude about life that matters.

Another thought is that the writing on the front should be in a grey border like the rest, but I didn't want to interfere with the picture there.

Most of all, I wanted to stay low-key, and not get too flowery with all the little doo-dads and bells and flowers and crap you see on most wedding stuff.  I wanted elegant and tasteful here.

Thoughts from the experts?  Wink

BTW, that is paraphrased.  The entire quote is:

And when the hourglass has run out, the hourglass of temporality, when the noise of secular life has grown silent and its restless or ineffectual activism has come to an end, when everything around you is still, as it is in eternity, then--whether you were man or woman, rich or poor, dependent or independent, fortunate or unfortunate, whether you ranked with royalty and wore a glittering crown or in humble obscurity bore the toil and heat of the day, whether your name will be remembered as long as the world stands and consequently as long as it stood or you are nameless and run nameless in the innumerable multitude, whether the magnificence encompassing you surpassed all human description or the most severe and ignominious human judgment befell you--eternity asks you and every individual in these millions and millions about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not, whether you have despaired in such a way that you did not realize that you were in despair, or in such a way that you covertly carried this sickness inside of you as your gnawing secret, as a fruit of sinful love under your heart, or in such a way that you, a terror to others, raged in despair. And if so, if you have lived in despair, then, regardless of whatever else you won or lost, everything is lost for you, eternity does not acknowledge you, it never knew you--or, still more terrible, it knows you as you are known and it binds you to yourself in despair.

To be quite honest ........ I'd find another quote that one's a bit depressing.  Sad
I'd also put all the writing directly onto the picture ... take the grey background off it ..... it makes it look like a tombstone.

I've just googled wedding quotes ........ there's loads of lovely stuff out there ... not too flowery or frilly and plenty that convey the message that you want.

You asked  sowwy. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Kev, I normally like most of your stuff, but I've gotta go with Eno on this one.  As beautiful of a quote as that is, I'm not sure it's really wedding oriented.  It seems kinda like the end of something, ya know?

Visually, it's awesome.  Just not sure about that quote.

Ok, I've got to get a new quote.  But I don't want anything wedding-oriented or all smarmy.  I just need something NICE.  Wink

I've always been fond of Shakespeare's Sonnets..particularly Sonnet 18:

Quote:
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron...admittedly not necessarily about a couple, per se.

Quote:
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade more, one ray less,
Had half impair'd the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
