HI Dan ,
Yes I have . I ran the regular calibration and the vertical column related to Z Axis rotation does not center . I can touch the stick and will change .
I tried FSUIPC calibration and the rudder setting changes constantly .
I am suspecting a worn Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro that I have used untold hours . It does have significant rotational play in the joystick of more than 1/8" and less than 1/4 " I would think ??? It would still seem that the sensitivity settings would have more effect than they do . My aircraft dart from one side of the runway to the other at the slightest touch and is extreme with tail draggers .
I don't understand what one is supposed to do ( if anything ) with the FSUIPC calibration ?? I see it has SET for each movement , but not sure what to do with that or with RESET ?
I do have a newer SWPPro joystick I can try . Should I turn the PC off when changing controllers ? It is in the USB Port and XP recognized it when installed the first time . I didn't have to use the CD like I did with W98 .
Thanks ,
Jamie

Hmmm. I never turn off my PC wehn ichange USB's.... i.e. Stick out MP3 in etc... It could be your stick. Try the new one. Thing is see, I know nothing about XP or FSUIPC. D@mn... You have tried the in-FS sensitivities haven't you?

How did you get the Precision Pro to work on XP? I have the Precision 2 because the Precision Pro had issues with getting recognized by XP.

HI ,
At first I could not get the joystick to work at all with XP and was plugging it into the gameport . Just for the heck of it I tried the USB port and XP recognized the joystick immediately and I didn't have to do a thing . It is not terrible now and can still fly just fine . It is just way too sensitive directionally on the ground . The Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro is still my favorite so far . I did not care for the force feedback feature of the more expensive and later controllers . I tried a Logitech at first and had a rough plastic to plastic feeling . I also tried an expensive Saitek and was way too complicated to install and never got it to work . I gave it away .
Dan -- I did try the rudder sensitivity in the sim in all sort of configurations . I can fly most of the planes and , as long as I rotate the joystick only very slightly or not at all , I can go fairly straight down the runway . Taildraggers are another matter .
Thanks ,
Jamie

I finally removed my joystick and replaced it with a nearly new one that I had in reserve ( still a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro ) . I did not turn the PC off and just plugged in the other one . It worked perfectly . The difference is quite remarkable , but directional control down the runway is still a bit sensitive for my liking .
There is almost zero slack in the rotational movement of the joystick and it went to zero when calibrated with FSUIPC . Apparently a badly worn controller was my major problem .
Thanks everybody ,
Jamie

Dear Insert Name Here ,
Just curious to know if simply plugging into a different port caused the P2 to work or was it considerably more involved ? You don't have to go into a lengthy explanation , but was wonderin !!

Dear Jamie,
I inserted the values of integer Bravo niner four into the port UDP 8678 and found the square root of pie. After that I inserted the HTML.....
I tried plugging it into all the ports available on the front since I was too lazy to go to the back (If you feel like getting of the chair, you just might be able to do it) and had no luck.. XP didnt even say Found New Hardware or New Hardware installed. I plugged in a 2 yearold Sidewinder 1.0 and played with that on Akroma. For the h*ll of it, I decided to plug out the 1.0 and try the P2 one last time. And then XP jumped up and said, Aha, you poked me! And thats how it worked out. M$, one word. Put this on the FAQ for people who have trouble.
I couldnt resisit making a lengthy explanation..
So all inall, I plugged in a 1.0 Sidewinder, plugged out, and plugged in P2.
Don't you like my long replies?

I'm thinking of buying a flight yoke for my sim, can anyone tell me, do they generally have a form of rudder control on them, or will i have to buy pedals? (I don't want to resort to auto-rudder or using the keyboard 8)

Hi I would recomend getting the rudder pedals first, you can use them with a joystick, then get the yoke, you won't look back.
www.dabs.com
do them for £120 ish each for the CH Products USB I got the rudder pedals for Christmas used the MS force feedback 2 joystick with them the realism is fantastic. I got the yoke in January, it is now just like the real thing. To answer your question you would have to use auto rudder. Hope this helps regards Chris

In addition, I have the MS sidewinder stick and on occassion when I'am within one mile of touchdown the plane wants to come in almost sideways. Since things are moving fast at this point it's almost impossible to hit the runway center on. I usually end up in the grass alongside the runway muttering 2@$#%%$!!&*!!!
