I have FS2002 and windows XP .  Suddenly all of my planes have begun to make slow left turns and exhibiting extreme sensitivity directionally on takeoff .  Taildraggers are essentially uncontrollable on the runway . All tend to go to the left .  I am aware of torque associated with prop planes .

I have turned off the number lock and used Ctrl and number 6 repeatedly with no real change .  Have also tried number 5 . Have set rudder sensitivity to minimum and rudder coordination is on .

Something has decided to change !!!!!  Know of any way I can " unchange " it ???

Are there any NASCAR logo's on the planes?  That could account for it!  Grin

Seriously though, have you calibrated your joystick recently?  That could (and does often for me) do it.

Also check autopilot is off, and wasn't left on if you saved a flight, this also can cause the problem Wink

It's a good idea to install FSUIPC (available here if you haven't got it already) as this is the best way I know to calibrate the joystick accurately.

Might want to check rudder trim, (Ctrl+num0/num Enter).

Saved a default flight once with 1 or 2 clicks of rudder trim, hardly noticable on the gauge, that rendered all flights with that effect.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi everybody ,

I am beginning to suspect a worn joystick ??  It has approx. 1/8 " of play in all directions . It is a Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro without force Feedback .  I have used it so many thousands of hours that it should be worn out .  I do have another one that I can try .

I had calibrated , but was unaware that my FSUIPC had a joystick setting tab .  I went to that , but am uncertain as to what one is supposed to do ?  I hit set and another bunch of figures came up and hit reset , etc.  The rudder axis didn't seem to want to settle down .

If you have a moment , I would like some info on how to use FSUIPC in calibrating the joystick .

Thanks ,

Jamie

i talked at length w/MS reps about the same problem a couple of years ago, even clean installed fs a couple of times. replacing the joy stick (saitex reps didn't fix it nor did upgrading drivers)
A new joystick fixed the problem but then   BOTH  joysticks worked!!
Try unplugging joystick and reinstalling w/windows wizard.

Lol dread.  Also, just as a backup, check your realism settings.  If before you had torque and p-factor (the "left-turning tendencies") all the way to the left and suddenly fs decided to put them to the right, it can seem like something is wrong.  fs is known to sneak up on you like that.  Roll Eyes  I'd be surprised if it was the joystick, it's normally the logitechs that have the problems, the sidewinders are normally alright.

Dear everybody ,

Thanks for all of the good response .  I checked and my newest add on plane does have a Nascar photo on the cowl.  I removed it and the problem is solved .  That Dreaded Pirate Roberts is just wonderful !!!!!  HA !!
Just kidding !

I do love my Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick and glad to know that some play in the mechanism is normal .  I have forgotten also how it was when new .

I shall try removing the joystick next and replacing .  Can't try it right now because I just have to FLY !!!!!!!!

Thanks all and will keep you updated ,

Jamie

Hi All ,

I just flew the 172 and seemed fine this time .  I didn't unplug the joystick or anything , but starting up for the 15th. time must have done something ,  I also flew my favorite Falcon 900 and it seemed fine also .  I did not try a taildragger but would bet they are still way too sensitive .  Anybody else have that problem ?

I would also like to know what somebody thinks of the Falc90VA.zip ?  I am really loving that plane and have modified the panel in case someone might want the bitmap .  I removed the odd looking post and a defect in the left front view .

Thanks ,

Jamie
