I went to re-install FSDS after wiping my drive the other day and I got a nice little hate message.  I put the disc into the drive and was promptly laughed at and told that this wasn't a MS/Dos Application and I was out of luck.  Anyone have any idea why this would happen?  I have used it many times, but not for a while.  I was wanting to get back to work on my Super Corsair...  Roll Eyes

Must be a WinXP thing. I've reinstalled FSDS1 & 2 several times after various disasters. Mind you, I have the downloaded version, not the CD. I can't see that would make any difference.

I have no knowledge of WinXP. I believe there's an Emulation Mode or something for installing older programs. Maybe that would do it?

This is my best suggestion. Maybe someone else can help or you could contact Abacus Product Support.

Or copy the files from the cd to the HDD.

Been there, done that.  STILL waiting on a reply from Abacus...  Roll Eyes

The only thing I can think of is re-installing Windows and I am not about to do that...

Solved it!  After trying to re-install Seti@home and getting the same result, I realized (I suspected it anyway) that Abacus wasn't to blame.  A search on the web turned up the solution.

In the Windows folder there is a subfolder called 'Repair.'  I simply copied the file in question (Autoexec.NT) to the System32 folder and it's as good as gold!

Amazing what you can discover when you google something...   Roll Eyes
