A new car company came out with the best idea since the V-8, they are remaking the 1969 Camaro. Think of the ideas of what you can do now! With a little conversion you can make it into a First gen Firebird. Also you can build to yor dreams without parting out history. Info from Hot Rod Magizine

Already Built w/ paint: 40,000
Just fame/chassis: 16,000

I've heard about this.  The funny thing is it would be cheaper to buy an original frame and chassis (actually, they don't even have frames).  A year or so ago I sold a 1969 Camaro hard-top rolling chassis for right about $2000.  It needed a little body work and one of the fender accessories-but it was otherwise a complete hard-top '69 Camaro rolling chassis, it even had a differencial (10-bolt of course).  Plus, it even had the original firewall trim tag-something these reproductions won't have (since it is an option tage).

I suppose my point is, if I was to have put $14,000 into this car-since I sold it for $2000 that would be $16,000 total (as if I had that kind of money  Roll Eyes) I would be pretty close to having a finished hot rod-plus it would have been an original car.  Where as, I would only have the chassis for $16,000 from this company.

I agree that it is a cool idea, especially since they are making them out of metal instead of fiber-glass (lilke most "kit" type cars).  But, it seems like buying an original rolling chassis would be a much cheaper and more desirable way to go.

Sorry the right number is $12,000 for the convertible, I know this is alot but think of the $26,000 32 Highboys or the $30,000 Fiberglass 42 Wilys. Only 69 Camaro Converts are availble, but the hard top is comming early 2005 and the 67 Mustang Fastback and 70 Cuda are in the works.

I've only seen photographs of the convertable bodies and they look nice.  But, I hope they aren't doing them completely original-like.  The '69 Camaro (actually all 1st gen Camaros) had bad stress problems on the rear quarter panels, especially the convertables because there is no hard top to strengthen it (even the hardtops had stress cracks-mine has one that I need to have fixed).  It would be terrible if someone put a ton of money into one of those and built a big engine for it just to have the quarterpanels suffer stress cracks.  I hope the company has taken this into account when making these bodies.
