727 - Full Moon (Read 1000 times)

Same 727 that's been making the rounds on the boards.
I know, I added that cheesy frame around these but I couldn't resist.
Not much editing really needed on these. The moon is from a replacement from hdmoon.zip and the water set is from morewatr.zip
Cheers,
Gus

The moon is large but it's the result of using a common technique in photography. By using a long long lens with a far off subject you can bring in an object in the subjects background much closer as a result of optics.
In this example I suggest using the moon from hdmoon.zip since it provide a better quality image then the default version. The moon is not larger than the default version.
Example:
Airport: KCLM
Date: November 27, 2004
Time: 16:55
Weather: Clear
Climb straight out and as in this example climb to around 2300 feet. Here I went to 2327 feet. Now hit pause and go to
view options
and
spot plane.
You must be in "windows" mode.
I first set the distance to 2500 feet and then the alitutde to -90 feet. I then used the red toggle to roll the airplane into the view of the moon and gradually raised the zoom value to 25.00. You may have to play with each one until you have it into the view you want. The key however is a high distance and zoom value. Again, you have to be in windows mode for that red lined toggle to work in order to roll the airplane into the view.
Go back into full screen mode and there you have it.
Here are some "real world" examples:

These pics are lovely - would like to get ahold of the moon & water effects but cannot seem to find any downloads for these? If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Brian

Brian,
For the moon go to:
http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=Izuru+Yokomi+moon&CatID=root
It's under FS2004 but it works fine in FS2004.
The water set I am using can be found at:
http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=Kevin+Rangel+water&CatID=root&Go=...
Don't forget to back-up any files.
Enjoy,
Gus

Thanks a bunch, both files work great, BTW that close-up of the moon is very impressive and thanks for sharing how to set up the picture as per your example here.

Very nice! I haven't been able to run FS2004, or any other flight sim for quite some time now, since my computer at home is down. That also explains why I haven't been able to visit SimV.
Well, keep up the beautiful shots!
