eek! i trust you are all correct, given the N registration, but that series of aircraft did begin life as the HS 125 before becoming the BAE 125 (Dominie in RAF service) before being sold to the US manafacturer.  Cheesy

I was going to mention that it was originally the DH 125.

That's where I have the advantage. Wink I worked on the 125 in all its various guises & the company I worked for still supports it today. Unfortunately it was the last in a famous line.  Ironically it turned out to be one of the most successful civil aircraft that DH ever produced.

hmm yeap that is an advantage.  Smiley  the closest i;ve ever been to one, is when i was flying an ATC Bulldog near BAE Warton. I was flying south back towards RAF Woodvale as the 125 flew in on my right hand side a few hundred feet above us.  Cheesy

I think he was using 'Learjet' in the general sense, meaning all business jets; this term was used as such in the past.

Yeah, I know.  Unfortunately, I think the usage in a general sense came about through the ignorant public.  To the general public, all airliners are jumbo jets.  Same thing...

I'm sorry, I should have said 'corporate jet' or something. I know not to say learjet. And no, I dont call all airliners jumbo jets.

Sorry for the mistake guys. Sad

I copied this from my previous link. The numbers after the colon are the quantity built.
Quote:
De Havilland D.H.125

Production Details

Design Company: The de Havilland Aircraft Co. Ltd, Hatfield

First Flight: 13 August 1962

125 Prototypes: 2 - De Havilland, Hatfield

125 Series 1: 82 - Hawker Siddeley, Chester

Dominie T.1: 20 - Hawker Siddeley, Chester

125 Series 3: 66 - Hawker Siddeley, Chester

125 Series 400: 116 - Hawker Siddeley, Chester

125 Series 600: 72 - Hawker Siddeley, Chester

125 Series 700: 125 - Hawker Siddeley and British Aerospace, Chester

125 Series 800 and Hawker 800: 400+ - British Aerospace and Raytheon

Hawker 1000: 52 - Raytheon
All those different names for what is basically the same aircraft. Roll Eyes A sign of the times I'm afraid. The De Havilland Aircraft Company was born when Sir Geoffrey de Havilland took over the Aircraft Manufacturing Company (Airco) at the end of WWI & renamed it in 1920. He was previously Airco's chief designer & responsible for such classic WWI aircraft as the DH.4. This famous company was absorbed by Hawker Siddeley Aviation in 1960 when the British aircraft industry was consolidated into 3 major companies.

From a Royal Flight - quite a long way - probably 10nm at least. It seems the pilot has been cleared of any wrong doing - I've heard an ATC chappie/chappess has been suspended...
