Adding an ILS in FS2 seems straight-foward enough if one reads Lee's manual. It states:

"Enable Back Course A LOC Antenna always radiates a back course beam, although it may be shielded in some rare cases.  If you are approaching on a back course the ILS gauge needle will swing in the opposite direction from a normal front course approach, unless your gauge automatically corrects for this.  Note that a back course approach is not the same as having an ILS at both ends of the runway. At many airports a back course approach is not allowed.  A back course will never have a GP.  You do not have to disable a back course in FS, even if you have an ILS on the same frequency at both ends of the runway.

so it appears it's doable and should work.

i added an ILS to both ends of runway 6/24 but it won't show up in FS9. Here's the screens:

...
ABOVE: AF2 SHOWS BOTH ILSs
...
ABOVE: FS9 SHOWS ONLY ONE ILS RWY24
...
ABOVE: FS9 SHOWS SAME FREQ BOTH ENDS (BUT THERE'S ACTUALLY ONLY A FRONT COURSE ON Rwy 24

thanks for any help

Hi again Bill,

Both ends have got the same ILS ID which ain't allowed. Look below

...

You might also find that you might need to select frqs from the drop down box rather than type em in as well to gett AFCAD to accept, but I can't be sure about that.

thanks again for your help, Rollerball I'll give a go (as we say out west here)
goodonya,
bill
p.s. i've put several hours into these military bases as they come up blank in default FS9
EDIT

You were correct re: changing ILS It has to be done from the
insert
menu. The readme is not too clear:

"Creating a Navaid:

Call up the window to create the appropriate navaid (ILS, Marker Beacon, VOR/DME, NDB) from the Insert Menu. AFCAD will fill in the parameters for that navaid using typical values, and in the case of ILS's and markers it will place the equipment where it would typically be located for the given runway, but you will probably want to customize certain parameters such as navaid class and identifier.  You can use published airport and approach charts to fill in most of the unknowns.  If you are creating an ILS for a new runway you should create the ILS only after you have finalized the runway location, heading, length, displaced thresholds, etc.  This saves you from having to adjust the ILS equipment locations if you adjust the runway configuration."

Thanks again, Rollerball
I never would have figured this out on my own by reading the manual. MIne now looks very much like yours (and correctly)

...

Simviation is a good place to learn

fly high,
bill
