Hi,

I have used TG2 fo a long time, and always knew you could not use rockets in multiplayer.
Someone told me there is a new version that allows you to fire rockets.......I can't find it!.......is this a wind up?

Check that link m8.
Doesn't specifically answer your question, I know, but it's the best I could come up with.

This is excellent news - I wonder if it accounts for the 90-odd (!) people I saw flying CFS1 tonight?

Makes the 20 or so  I see in CFS2 most evenings (UK time) look a little sad... Wink

I'm going to dust my CFS1 disk off and give this a go!

BTW - I'm assuming this version will work on XP? (Fingers crossed!)

~S~ Ddave

Good to see you around - I haven't tried this out yet, but aim to do so very soon.

If this version of TG2 will work with XP and allows bombs, rockets (and maybe even timed rockets in time!) then I also think there will be a great deal more renewed interest in CFS1.

Does anyone know if Brunhost will work with XP now as well? Combining the two and adding flak with MPSU would make for some excellent bombing/ground attack scenarios.

Looking forward to giving this a spin!

BTW

To pick up on Ivor's question (Hi!)

Timed rockets go off at a set time rather than when they strike something (although they would explode on contact if they did hit something before their time was up.

I think the game set them to 5 seconds. If I remember rightly, the default keyboard command for using these was Ctrl + 3.

One of the stock Luftwaffe missions has you going against a formation of B-17s with timed rockets - great fun when you drop one right in the middle! Not so much fun to be on the receiving end though, eh?

Wink

Well, it works!  Smiley

I'm still getting the debug message though - with the no splash version anyway.

Any suggestions from anyone?

8) Here is a post from the Joint Operations site about the new TG2.This might explain a few things. It's a rather old post so you may want to go to the JO forum to see whats new, Wink
Dd

"S! First post was apparently deleted, so I will post again.  For a long time I have wanted to see rockets in multiplayer.  Now that is possible.  TG2 supports rockets unofficially with the file you can get at:
http://helcatsquadron.tripod.com/Tg2Splash.zip
Which tells you Tg2 w/ Rockets is installed and working every time you start CFS
OR
http://helcatsquadron.tripod.com/Tg2NoSplash.zip
If you want the version which has no splash screen on startup known to cause problems with Windows XP.

This is by no means a perfect release, and I am still going to be working on it for a while, but there are only 2 annoyances, and no known bugs.  It works just as well as the other versions of TG2 and will install perfectly over any other version of TG2.  It does not appear to have any problems with any version of Windows, but should one arise, I am not responsible, however I will help you to fix it.
This release does not support timed rockets (pause for sigh of disappointment) but they will soon be implemented.  Anti-ram is removed from this release (pause for sigh of relief!).  When firing a rocket or dropping a bomb, a debug message which says "tg2:" goes across the chat screen.
I believe this version to be completely fit for release, it is every bit as good as the last version of Tg2 and in my opinion better, and although it is a work in progress, the work that has been done, in my opinion, is worth downloading and trying at least to check it out and see what you think.
This could be a huge change to CFS, and CTE, so please give it a try.  I know rockets will prove an interesting addition, and I will work out the 2 problems discussed earlier in this post as soon as possible.  I am already working on removing the debug message, and as soon as work on that is complete, I will work to enable timed rockets.
Nearly all of the work done for this program is Steveiy's work, so please respect him for putting so much time into CFS, and if you see him on Zone or anywhere else, please remind him how much of a difference his work made, and ask him to make another version of Tg2 officially supporting rockets.  BTW, to anyone who downloaded the splash version of this earlier, please download it again, it has been updated."
