What is C.O.F?

Also, you have the name wrong in your post. It should be Cowl_Flaps1. TagTool just names the parts, nothing more. If FS happens to use a stock animation then all that’s needed is the correct name, which Tag Tool will do with 100% accuracy per the MakeMDL SDK the same goes for Part Names, Endcap Names and Damaged Texture Part Name etc. Cowl flaps require keyframes to work. Keyframe “0” is fully closed and keyframe “100” is fully open. The keyframes also need to be Rotational and not Position keys.

No. The animation will work for whichever coordinate system you are in. That said the animation could move in an unexpected way if you don't animate while in Local though.

I have an F4u with 13 cowl flaps. The way I set a cowl flap to be animated is by creating a Rotation key at 0 and then move the time slider over to frame 100. Turn on Animation and rotate the object for desired position. This will automatically add the keyframe at 100. Turn off the Animation and it's done.

Woody,

For multiple cowl flaps, use:
Cowl_Flaps0_00
Cowl_Flaps0_01
Cowl_Flaps0_02
etc.
for engine 0, and

Cowl_Flaps1_00
Cowl_Flaps1_01
Cowl_Flaps1_02
etc.
for engine 1
