I have managed to get 99% system resources free on boot, not just once but consistently. I wonder if its actualy had any effect on my simming! Im on Windows 98 (SE -  Roll Eyes) lol.... What sort of amount do others have? Fozzer maybe?! And coan somebody with a similar PC to mine (i.e. old...) run PCMark2002 on it? I want to compare my scores, and I can't do 3DMark01 without skipping tests.

...never fear...Fozzer's here... Wink...!

When I read Dans heading I thought to myself..."Oh no!..Dan's been getting too excited with his girl-friend again..".... Shocked... Embarrassed.... Grin....!

LOL...!

Actually I don't have too many problems with my system resources, I use a little prog to shut the un-necessary ones down at boot-up.

What I find essential is a program running in my system tray called "Free Mem"*...
This prog allows me to free up all my memory at regular intervals, due to an annoying quirk in the Win '98 operating system** which slowly drains the memory away, to zero in some cases, while my programs are running...!

Cheers all... 8)...!

Paul.

* ...do a search for "FreeMem".

**...but not serious enough to make me install Windows XP.. Wink... Wink... Grin...Tee-Hee...!

P.S. ...(I use the "free" version of 3D Mark 2001 SE)... 8)...!

Its here http://www.meikel.com/en/products/freemem/

I have tried it, but It didn't seem to work that well on my system. I think its 'cos I don't have a huge amount of RAm anyway!!  Tongue I prefer just to reboot before I start my sim...
