Hey,
Does anyone here know if the ATC in FS2002 is smart enuf to avoid collisions with mountains, tall buildings etc.??
Anyone had any bad experinces with the ATC? The only time the ATC screwd up for me was when I was on final for Auckland after a LONG flight from Dubai. Just as i was on final, out pops a Cessna Skyhawk. I had to veer off course and i was cursing the f**king ATC. I had to a go around and do the whole approch pattern again with only 8% of fuel left. Boy was it scary. I am doing a final check before landing. I look up at my screen and see a freaking Cessna.
Just imagine tht scenario in real life (although its virtually impossible)......
Any replies would be appreciated....

FS ATC is so amazingly stupid that it will tell you to join a circuit one way while other traffic is going the other way.
Complete rubbish.

Yeah I have had my share of stupidity. You'll learn to cope with it in the end though.

I have to say the only place I would say that FS ATC is realistic would be over France and Spain in the summer holiday season. I thought I had a near miss there, but another aircraft flew between us so I'm not sure

Yeah, I am the role of ATC on Akroma Server and the only time floris (other ATC) and I screwed up was when we were controlling at PAHN with mountains on the left of runway 8. I thought it was a left standard pattern for 8 when it was actually for 26.. Poor Piper...

Hmm, I don't know about fs2002, but I did a flight to denver the other day and ATC gave me a descent order to 14,500 and as I approached smacking in the mountains (I would have pulled up myself) they ordered me up to 17,000. So at least in 2k4 they are aware of terrain heights and won't let you just go smack into the side of a mountain.

Ahhh, the horrible ATC. They sometimes dont even know how to navigate the mountains... I forget where it was but at one point I was in a A340-600 on ILS aproch...They told me to decend to 2000 feet. Soon after I look up to see a nice 4000+ tall mountain within a few thousand feet. Even pulling up didnt help, it was to late
