I'm using dual monitors and have a problem when I move the ATC window over to the second monitor. The problem is that I lose the spoken text. I still hear what ATC says and what I say but no text. It works fine if I leave it on the main screen.

Can any one help me with this?

Secondly, WideFS, I am thinking that this will allow me to run FS9 on two computers but only installed on one. Is this correct? If so how do I set it up and use it?

Stevewilson,

Hi.

On the second question..........

WideFS (which requires FSUIPC also to work) simply sets up what a computer THINKS is a version of FS2002/4 running on the machine.  So an application that is "looking for" the simulator running on that machine thinks it is there.  The data stream is two way.... so any data written on the external machine routes right back the to real copy of the simulator running on another machine.  So something like a gauge program will see all the data from the sim on a remote machine.

If you want to run the sim itself on TWO machines simultaneously (so that you can have multiple exterior views, for example) you need another payware program called WideView.

This program links two versions of the simulator together.  So you run the "main" sim on one machine.... and then "sync" another machine to be flying the same exact scenario.... but the screen (or screens if multiple monitors attached) maybe show the left and right side window views.

Hope this helps.

best,

...............john

Thanks guys,

John you explained it nicely, I had the wrong program in mind as to what I wanted to do.

Oliver, I went to the link and really started to drowl.

What I was hoping to be able to do was to set up so a friend and I could sit here and fly together like you do in multiplayer but only in the same room. Sounds like that isn't going to happen.

Thanks again.

Stevewilson,

Oh... that's pretty simple.

You need to set up two machines on a LAN.   Not hard to do at all.  Wired ethernet cards can be had for about $10 each new.  If your friend is a neighbor.... you might even be able to do a wireless LAN....and the two machines can hook together is the signal reaches between houses.

best,
