How can I replace the goofy looking lights & strobes in my older FS2K planes with the better FS2K2 lights?

To bad I cant make a living out of this, but it would probably kill me.

Not sure you can, Phil. I had some FS2k planes that had wing lights that didn't look too realistic, but they were part of the model rather than had lighting effects applied so I couldn't do anything about them.

Sorry can't be of more assistance...

Starting with FS2002 the ac lights are *.fx files and are placed on the ac in the aircraft.cfg file. You can overlay the 'modeled' lights with the new ones, and looks pretty good.

Look in any default ac's aircraft.cfg, [Lights] section.

Quite easily done with the hardest part being positioning the lights by trial and error.

For a full explaination of the [Lights] section download the 'FS2002 aircraft_container sdk here...(138kb)

Cheers,

KissThanks,Dave! I knew there had to be a way.Ive got over 500 planes in my hangar,(and a full hard drive)and most of the older models look great exept for the lighting.Ive gotten pretty good at re-arranging panels & cfg.s,so Ill grab that file and give it a go.No sense downloading any more planes when I have all these hangar queens, grounded only due to bad lighting.                                                                                                                  Thanks again, Phil
