Why do I get much better performance in VC? (Read 321 times)

I mostly fly planes in VC mode and only with tough clouds or at  large airport do my FPS drop from 30 locked. Whereas in 2d cockpit I struggle to maintain 25 at any time.

Is something wrong! I would expect VC to be tougher on the PC then 2d cockpit. Anyone got an answer as to why??

Thanks,
Birdman.

Maybe in the planes you fly, the virtual cockpit guages are not as comprehensive as the fully gauged 2d panel, so you have less guage overhead. Reducing the gauge update time May help in 2d mode..... it's just a shot in the dark, but I noticed the same thing in some planes, and attributed it to that.

By accident yesterday I installed a P40 Warhawk and forgot the guages, in panel view with no gauges I was only getting 24fps whilst in VC mode I was getting 30fps locked ???

Its very strange Roll Eyes It just doesn't seem to like the panel bitmaps Tongue I have tried all of the planes I have and all are locked at 30fps in VC mode!

How do I do that?

Thanks

Thats real weird isn't it?  I tend to find I get worse FPS in VC mode than 2d cockpit lol.  Loads more detail in VC view usually

Have you checked what gauge quality you're running at? Just a thought.

Nope. VC Guage quality at 100%. As with all texture related sliders & most other things,

Ah ha - 'fraid it wasn't my computers fault Grin A little "tweaking" of the cfg file I did a while ago dropped panel performance by half! I'm back to 29.9FPS per second now Wink

I got this program called .cfg tweaker or something from avsim - keeps you fiddleing for ages Roll Eyes

But isnt it still odd that you would have the same fps for 2d and virtual cockpits?

i thought VC's ate up more fps than 2d ???

p.s.- whatare your comp specs?
