i aslo feel that he was like a father to me.  he cared so much about music that he would put that infront of his life.  I wonder how many ppl he has made happy and also think about all the bands that wouldnt have come through!

today we have lost a legend of the music industry!

For 4 decades he was introducing new sounds and new bands to the British public, I don't think anyone can step into his shoes.

Quite ironic....
Quote:
In 1959, after National Service, Peel moved to America where Beatlemania soon took hold. The Liverpool connection helped Peel land a spot as DJ on WRR radio in Dallas. He moved back to England in 1967, where he first joined Radio London, before moving to BBC Radio 1 for its launch. He was to remain with the station for the rest of his life, the only original DJ.

Without out him modern rock and metal as we know it would not have been the same, he introduced bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd into the world.

RIP Mr. Peel

I shall celebrate his life now by rocking out to some of the people he introduced.
