With the release of PF comming soon. Are you going to cotinue to play CFS2 and why. It seems to me that CFS2 will bee hard press to survive after the release of the new Pacific war Simulator. If you agree or diagree please give me your thoughts. thank you

I will continue with cfs2 cos-

1  You can add 3rd party stuff to it.

2  It is not restricted to one area of operations.

3  It is not restricted to one period of time.

~S~

I loved CFS1 and ahve grown to love CFS2 - I belong to a large squad  (mainly US & Canadian, but increasingly now we have a European contingent and a growing number of pilots from Australia and New Zealand) - we need to build up our European wing again, so if anyone is interested.... you 'll find me online most Monday and Wednesday nights (UK).

I am concerned about the lack of activity on the Zone in the evenings European time, though, and am looking into PF as a possible alternative.

I just got it having pre-ordered it some time ago and first thoughts are very positive - it is disorienting for me as I am not used to the IL-2 series of flight sims, but I like it and will continue to explore its potential.

I certainly love the cockpit rendering and aircraft handling - it has an 'authentic' feel to it - like I know having only flown tiny little light aircraft! Wink

For me it has always been about the people I fly with, so I'll be sticking with CFS2 for a while yet and maybe looking to drag my squad over to PF if it looks viable at a later date.

Many other combat simulators have come and gone.... you only have to look at my shelf in the study... Some had very good features and were fun to play for a while, but have always ended up back on the shelf.

CFS2 is an old friend, reliable, usable, and the support form the FS community is great. People spend a lot of time designing add-ons, scenery, planes, effects etc to the benefit of the game. What else could you ask for??

  8) Good question.....

I fly IL2FB AEP PF...kinda of a mouth full... and I love it !

Try landing on a moving carrier with a pitching deck in a thunder storm and strong crosswinds, talk about exciting! The game has SO many features that cfs sims don't have there are too many to list. It's a great game, with 400,500,even 660 + people online at the Hyper Lobby flying it. Pretty unbelievable !

The down side is you MUST have a mega comp or the damn thing won't work.Major processor, memory & vid card.Takes big bucks. The game itself is sooo detailed with graphic effects that it is a MAJOR frame rate killer.I get 80+ fps in cfs1 and cfs2 but in the IL2 games I  get 25 to 35 on average due to heavy graphic loads ( I like eye candy lol) Grin

And.... the only addons are skins. As a long time 3rd party developer myself, I certainly miss designing scenery ,missions, api macros etc. My trusty Airport 2.60 and E.O.D. programs are getting mighty dusty....sigh Cry Another bad problem is instrument flying. The cockpits are beautiful, but  in full cockpit mode, you have to look down to see a bunch of very small guages, which I can barely read. Pretty much useless I think and a definite negative aspect as far as I'm concerned. If I want to fly nav flights I have to use FS9...pity.

I have all my sims still on my hard drive....CFS1,CFS2,FS9 and three versions of Il2Fb and Pacific Fighters...ok call me nuts Tongue So,what do I fly online ?  Pacific Fighters, thats where the action is.

But I still go back  to fly CFS sims offline because I still love them. CFS is like your first girlfiend.....hard to forget her Cry  I still have to go back and check on my "children" everyonce in a while. At last count at another website,I have over 4500 downloads of my sceneries and missions. It's hard to totally give up something you have put so much time and effort into.It amazes me that people still keep flying the old sims but I guess it's like driving a vintage car.....it may not have all the modern bells and whistles but the basic vehicle has a soul and style that are timeless.

CFS is kinda like that.......

it's the original...  and it was  made with love Wink

Ddave

P.S. Can't post here without saying hi  to Doug and
Pads...hope you guys are doing ok  Smiley Cheesy Grin

Just thinking randomly here, but what about animating Aircraft Carriers in CFS2 so that they pitch forward, backward, left and right as they're steaming along?
